And the 2nd board is up! Yea!!! This time as requested I have used a drugstore lippy. As before there are just 10 pairings for now with the 11th pic being just the lippy so that you can get an idea of it. More pins and boards coming soon. Do comment or like the pins on the board to let me know which pairings you are liking. Click on the link given below to go to the respective board. Catch you later!
A period of firsts! Posted my 1st tag post couple of hours back and now I’m back with the 1st ever empties post on the blog! Let me hear you say yea! Ok I’m done with the goofy of the day. I have been obsessed with doing an empties post ever since I saw one on Shouri of Makeup, Fashion and Everything I Like. Let me tell you it is not an easy thing to do especially for a hoarder like me. But I was adamant that I would do it especially since it is a benchmark of sorts….an accomplishment!
I practically got an eye strain watching the levels move on the products. Each time I would think today is day that so and so bottle will empty there would be enough left for another use! Sigh! Cant tell you in words how frustrating it can get. I really like to jump from product to product especially with bath and shampoo kind of stuff. That is another reason why you don’t get to see too many of those posts on my blog as I don’t stick long enough to one. But the tides are changing 🙂 So much so that 4 out of the 5 I will mention are shampoo/conditioner.
Clarins Instant Eye Makeup Remover
I think I got this almost 2 years back. That time I had freshly developed an interest in beauty blogs. I think this was the first bi-phase (2 liquids) remover that I got. The concept was new to me when I got this. I don’t know how much I paid for it back then but this is 125 ml. This is a nice remover but it did not pass the acid test for me ie remove L’Oreal Million Lashes mascara (water resistant version). But apart from that it is decent. You need to shake it up properly before use and it does not irritate the eyes or leave a film in them on use. But for the price that you will end up paying for it I would recommend that you either spend it on the MAC Cleanse Off Oil or Clinique Take The Day Off Balm.

L’Oreal Color Protect Shampoo
I like to use L’Oreal shampoos in general and usually they act as my “base” shampoos. By that I mean that I use them to clean my scalp (I have oily scalp) and then use a treatment shampoo on top. I like the pink one the best from them but honestly I’m not really partial. My mom bought a couple of these sort of like a bulk buy and we are basically going through those one by one. Didn’t pay attention to the “color protecting” part of it. 185 ml of product costs around 130-150 bucks. Worth a look.

L’Oreal Professional Force Vector Masque
This one I was just finishing coz my sis left it behind. I would have probably not purchased it on my own and I will tell you why….the smell! It is so masculine, very strong and overpowering almost. Hits me in my brain somewhere….whoa! But apart from that L’Oreal makes very nice shampoos and conditioners and higher you go up their brand ladder the more effective are the products. This one conditions my hair really well and I am not left wanting for more (much). Apart from that my hair does not break….it comes out from the roots so I cant validate that claim of its. But I will not be buying this again due to the aforementioned quality. Price is Rs. 580/- for 200 g of product.

Maa Disha Shampoo 9
I had high hopes from this. But it did not live up to my expectations. Ok let me clarify…this is supposed to belong to a brand which specializes in curing hair loss (according to their claim). They have a few products which are supposed to contribute in arresting hair fall. This product is supposed to be an add on. So they don’t really claim that this will in stopping the fall rather will make your hair healthy. I did find my hair shinier than usual when I using this but that is pretty much it. This costs around 1500 bucks for the full size product and I would rather spend that in getting Kerastase. That is a personal preference. If you are into the whole “natural”, “organic”, etc. bandwagon you can look into this one. But not something I will buy. You can read my detailed review of this HERE and more about the brand HERE.
Nature’s Series Ginger Oil & Sesame Butter Conditioner
The bigger they are, the harder they fall or the in this case the bigger the name, the worse they perform :p Ok fine PJ. But this one was the worst buy. Didn’t condition my hair for nuts! I have oily scalp but dry ends and I need some intense moisture. This was very reasonable – Rs. 345/- for 250 ml of product. But that is about it. You would think that it is loaded up with natural goodness or something and if it failed in conditioning properly it might have just helped in some other manner – WRONG! Sigh! I had to test this out and that was the worst 3 months for me. Had to put in additional product in my hair just to get by. Not touching this stuff ever again. You can read my detailed review HERE.
So those were my empties. I had one or two more but I’m keeping them aside so that I can do a post next month too along with some others that I’m expecting to go through this month. Don’t look at me like that :p I do want to do one of these every month if for nothing else then for mental satisfaction….so there. Have you tried any of these? What has been your experience with it? Waiting to hear from you. See you around!
A few days back Ritu from The Indian Beauty Blog tagged me to do my current 5 fav lip products. I’m very excited to write this post as this is my first ever tag – so thank you Ritu for that 🙂 At first I was all like “Oh my how will I find my only 5 products?!? What to pick and what to leave? I love them all!!!”. But then I did realize that I might love all (well most) of the lippies in my hoard but there are some that I end up reaching for all the time. So lets take a quick peek into them.
1. Etude Princess Etoinette Crystal Shine Lips POR201 – LOVE LOVE LOVE this one! Probably the one I wear the most. A gorgeous subtle peach color with gold shimmer to it. It looks so pretty and feminine and is the perfect mate for me when I do my cat eyes. This one I would purchase for life if I could.
2. Etude Princess Etoinette Crystal Shine Lips PPK004 – Another gorgeous color. This one is a beautiful soft pink color with silver shimmer to it. Fab for day wear and my 2nd most fav lippy. I really wish the company makes these colors permanent.
3. MAC Crosswires – This has been a recent discovery and I fell in love with it. A lovely coral color with a light sheen to it but without any glitter. I think this is a must have color if you are into corals.
4. Lakme Absolute Lip Tint Orange Tease – Honestly if a few months back you would have told me I would be wearing orange tones I would have actually ended up denying it vehemently! But I’m a total convert now. This is a beautiful orange color which is not all in-your-face kinds but is quite wearable. And if you like me are apprehensive about this tone but do want to give it a go this one might be the ideal place to start.
5. Smashbox Double Take Lip Color Sugar Spice – Before I discovered the Etude lippies this one was my go-to lippy for day to day wear. An earthy pink shade with a similar lip liner this was the most convenient thing to tout around and the most wearable. Being the lazy person that I am I don’t like to spend oodles of time to get ready before I step out. The matching the lippy with outfit is a major pain. This is a simple solution 🙂 It is the “black” of the lippy world aka goes with everything. I have not used this in sometime but it is still one of my favs.
So those were my current top 5. I don’t see myself replacing any of these soon as I love the versatility and wear-ability that they offer. But who knows maybe something might just come along 🙂 I hope you liked the list and so let me know if any of them are personal favorite too. Now I’m going to tag my friends to do the same post. Cant wait to see what they come up with. In no particular order –
* Renu of My Beauty Junction
* Dolon of Pout Pretty
* Poorna of Presented by P
* Sharmistha Guha Chowdhury
* Neeraj of Beauty Traveller
* Ankita of Corallista
* Priyanka of Purplenista
* Dollie of Indian Shringar
Ok I’ll stop now. There were just too many people popping in my head. Sorry folks but I promise I will tag you in the next one 🙂 And to people who have been tagged – go through your stash and choose your fav 5. Mammoth of task….isn’t it?
Ok people the first pairing board is up (wut wut)!!! To kick things off I decided to take a MAC lippy and was wondering between Syrup and Half but the later won (don’t ask me how or why). There are about 11 pairings for now and I have stuck to strictly glosses. More will come up soon as a new product gets reviewed. So keep an eye out for that plus new boards. Do like or comment on the pics to let me know your fav pairing. Click on the link shown below to go to the respective board. I will catch you soon!
Honestly I don’t know what is up with my skin these days. Why all of a sudden it has decided to be dry over the usual combination type. But I know it is a phase for it and it is still deciding which way it wants to swing and one of these days will do a complete 180 on me 😛 But on the positive side I get to test out products for all the people who have dry skin problems. I was sent this product by the company after they asked me some questions about my skin concerns. This came at the perfect time for me.
Omved is a Mumbai based brand and they have very wide range of products. I love visiting their store every time I go to Mumbai. I remember I had gone there within a few months of them opening their doors at the Palladium outlet. I bought this hair pack which came in powder form and was packaged in those old ceramic containers that our ancestors used to store pickles in. Loved the packing so much but unfortunately since it was heavy I had to leave it behind. But I still remember it after all this time and that it quite a feat for my horrible short term memory 😛

You can find over 200 products in their stores from cosmetics to clothes to puja stuff etc etc. It is their endeavor to bring to their customers 100% natural products and provide it in packing that is biodegradable and recycled. The tag line of the company reads “Be Balanced. Be Natural. Be You”. Based on ancient Vedic traditions their products are crafted to help one live a healthy and holistic life.
Omved Intense Moisturizing Cream comes in a square glass bottle with a plastic cap which has a frosted metal finish. The packing is bulky thus making it inappropriate for travel. I wish they had used a different material for it as I could then carry it easily with me but now I have to find another container to transfer it into if I want to take it along with me.
“This non-greasy, fast absorbing moisturizer keeps skin soft, supple and resilient. It’s smooth consistency glides on and melts into the skin, almost instantly as it restores elasticity of dry or damaged skin.
* Vitamin E rich Kokum butter regenerates dead skin cells
* Wonder flower Chamomile nourishes dry, flaky or troubled skin.
* Sesame oil penetrates 7 layers of the skin for wrinkles and aging effects.”
The cream has a light scent to it which has light floral tones but the base tone has a nutty/oil like smell to it. The texture is like a thick moisturizer as opposed to a proper cream. It absorbs quickly into the skin and leaves it feeling properly hydrated. If your skin feels really dry and you get that tugging stretchy feeling then this will really help to make your skin feel comfortable.
I have been using it for almost a month now. When I wash my face in the morning my skin feels very dry and stretchy. I apply this and my skin just drinks it up. I don’t have to go over my face too many times with it and a little product goes a long way. I don’t get a film like feel except a little on my T zone after a while. But one application and I’m good for the entire day or till the time I wash my face. Cant say if it has any effect on wrinkles but I do feel that I need it less now and sometimes can get away with using a light moisturizer. My skin does not feel completely satisfied on those days but I manage.
Apart from the Clarins night cream that I reviewed a short while back this is another which didn’t break me out at all which was very surprising. Though it seems a little pricey paying Rs. 440/- for 40 gms of cream from a brand which is not so well known. But if you look at the fact that is an Au natural product and a little of it covers more area and helps to repair the skin over time so that it feels less dry the price gets justified. I have used it for a month every day and I think this jar can easily last me over 3 months.
So that concludes my review on it. For the new readers let me just say that in spite of the fact that this was sent to me by the PR of the company in no way has that fact affected my view on the product. For my regular readers – you already know this little tidbit :). Do let me know if any of you have tried this product or brand and what are thoughts on it. Is there any product from the brand that you really liked? As always waiting to hear from you. Take care!
Would you purchase Omved Intense Moisturizing Cream again? – If I suffer from dry skin issues then yes I just might (unless I find something better).
Would you recommend Omved Intense Moisturizing Cream to your friend? – Yes I would.

I’ve met many amazing people and made some great friends. Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. I’m improving with each passing day and I’ll continue to try my best. Until then, please keep showing your love to my blog. Hugs.

She is so talented.” :). Wishing you the very best!
   How many times do we keep buying new lippies/glosses? And how many times do we end up combining different shades to create something new? Often something this basic does not even strike us. Think of the endless possibilities that you can create in that manner. The whole new range of colors that you can get from what you already have in your collection.
   I’m starting a new series called the “Pairing Project”. The first round of this will be pairing lipsticks with glosses. I will take one lipstick from my stash which I have already reviewed on the blog and combine it with all the glosses that I have reviewed one by one. I will cover all of them from the Limited Edition ones to the regular ones. I will combine all the glosses in my collection irrespective of the fact if I find the colors suiting or not. So there will be no bias what so ever just a seamless flow of creative idea.
   This is something that I will do exclusively for Pinterest as it is easier to create a lot of new boards there. So if you are not already there then head on down and create an account. It does not take anything and it is a fun place to be. Plus you can get a lot of fun creative ideas there from a whole bunch of people and what I like best about it is that is more of a women-centric domain.
  So each lipstick will have its own board and each pairing with a new gloss will be a pic in that board. Every time there is a new lippy that I review on the blog I will put up a respective board for it and every time I review a new gloss I will put up paired pics in the respective boards. Then there will even be color combining of 2 shades of lippies and so on and so forth. As you can see this will be an extensive and never ending project but what fun!
   Just imagine the plethora of new colors that we will have access too not to mention a certain amount of exclusivity to the shade. I will do a blog post when ever I start a new board and post some idea pics here but for the main lot you would need to head on down to the Pinterest board. I have not decided yet if I will put those pics up on Facebook as I’m kind of apprehensive about that idea given the kind of weird going ons there (you know what I’m talking about).
   Will see how it goes. So what do you think? Find the idea appealing? I’m quite psyched about it as it is something different that the regular run of the mill review post thing….Excited to see some really gorgeous and some totally zany looks that this will throw up 🙂  Plus might be a great way to finally use the vast amount of lip products that I have accumulated…..two birds one stone my friend 😀 H3ll ya!
These are my first ever purchase from Rimmel. I have heard so many people talking about the brand gushing over it really that it has good quality products plus it is quite affordable. The girls all went crazy when the Kolkata outlet opened just a month or so back. I’m sure they must have not expected the kind of response that they must have gotten. Yes they do have some interesting things and today we will explore the famous Apocolips that created such a huge buzz.
Apparently there is an American version of these which has a better look and costs lesser. It was released recently but I came to know about their existence from Renu of Beauty Junction (girl is a wealth of info) after I had already hauled these. Btw I got these from ASOS and with free shipping! Yea! Honestly is there a better or sweeter word than that?!? Well apart from sale 😀 Yes I can see all the ladies nodding along. Now if only our Rupee was worth 10$….Well one can dream cant they 😉
Since I got four of these – Stellar, Apocaliptic, Nova and Celestial, I have grouped their review together coz apart from their colors the remaining qualities are pretty much the same. I was thinking of doing separate reviews earlier but it feels sort of moronic to me repeating the same thing over and over. But if for any reason you prefer the individual reviews than this format then do let me know and I will not group the products in the future. Since I have already blabbed so much I will not waste any more time and jump into an express review format.
Packing:
* Approx 3 inches tall. Gloss tube format easy to carry around
* Cap has an edgy geometric pattern on it
* 3/4th of the packing is black in color. Remaining 1/4th shows the color of the product
* Completely made of plastic but does not have the cheap look to it. Different and attractive packing
* Comes with a doe foot applicator
* Brush has a depression in the middle which acts like a pocket for the product. Don’t have to dip the wand back in again and again to cover lips. One swipe is more than enough

Texture:
* Rimmel calls them lip lacquers. Feels and looks exactly like NYX xtreme lip creams
* I found the smell a little strange. You will get a fruity sort of smell but the under lying note smelt like oil paint to me. Don’t know if it just me.
* The texture is on the thicker side and you can feel it coating the lips. Does not sit in the lines
* Gives full coverage
* I will not say that it is moisturizing per say but since it is thick it covers your lips and they feel somewhat comfortable but not completely
* Fades down to a soft tint like color by the 5th kiss but does not sit in the lines even then
* Survives a couple of drinks but not an eating session. It will not disappear completely on you but fade down to a tint
* Does not feel sticky/tacky
* Tends to bleed/ smear. Using a liner will help. I saw a tip on the UD site. Use a transparent/n~de pencil just outside the lip line and this will prevent the lippy from bleeding
Apocaliptic:
The darkest color that I got. Really dark pink shade with a slight blue tone to it. I usually avoid blue toned shades as they don’t suit me but I like how this one looks. I think this shade will look good on a lot of skin tones. A rich beautiful shade perfect for evening wear.
A soft pink shade tending towards n*de. A lovely color for daily wear but I feel that it might wash out some people. But if you are looking for a wearable shade then you should take a look at this one. Personally I like this color.
Nova:
Nova is a shade that is in between Apocaliptic and Celestial. It a pink shade darker than Celestial and has a hint of blue to it but not as much as Apocaliptic. Another shade meant for daily wear and for people who want a little more color than what Celestial provides. But personally I didn’t like the color much as it the exact mix of blue that I like to avoid and feel that it washes me out. Not meant for everyone.
Stellar:
This one is my favorite of the lot! Really gorgeous shade. A rich coral shade tending towards red a bit. Looks stunning and I think that it is quite versatile ie can be worn in the day while shopping with friends or in the evening for a hot date. I think this shade will suit all skin tones. Definitely the must buy from the range.

So those were my views on the different shades. I’m giving a combined scorecard as their qualities don’t differ from one to the other only the shade does and that is a personal choice. For me Stellar is the winner followed by Celestial as it is wearable and then Apocaliptic followed by Nova. I will try to get my hands on the American versions for these. Cant wait to see how they fare. Which colors appeal to you from this lot? Are you interested in trying it out? Have you tried the American version of it? Waiting to hear from you. I will see you soon gorgeous! 🙂
Would you purchase Rimmel Apocolips Lip Lacquers again? – I will try the American versions and will buy Stellar again in a heartbeat!
Would you recommend Rimmel Apocolips Lip Lacquers to your friend? – Absolutely!

Just another manic haul day
Wish it were a ban day
Coz my cards are cryin
Just another manic haul day!
I have been singing these lines all evening 😛 Just stuck in my head since I spoke to my friends about doing a post for my haul. I ventured out for some work and as usual ended up buying a couple of things. How do you stop yourself from getting something especially when there is sale all around?!?
Well somethings were planned…hmm ok I had planned to go to 2 stores only – one to peek and one to buy. Make that 3 – 2 to peek in and 1 to buy. I wanted to see if the Dior summer collection finally made out here (peek), whether the MAC Temperature Rising was launched (peek) and since I heard Promod was on sale I wanted to pick these really light jackets (hmm not sure if it the correct term from them as they were made of thin material…more of a cover up I guess) available in different colors that they had in their collection (buy).
Dior collection is still not here (boo!) neither was Temperature Rising (double boo!!) but the had the Extra Dimensions collection and I picked a blush in the shade Blazing Haute along with lippy in Crosswires. My main objective was to book some pieces from the upcoming collection before they ran out of it. I then mosey-overed to Promod where they had run out of the jackets that I wanted but I found this one in beige leatherlite material.

I remember seeing something similar during their winter stock but at that time it was priced much higher so I didn’t end up picking it. This one has a tag price of Rs. 3650/- but I paid Rs. 2950/- for it on discount. I really like how it feels all soft and smooth. Nice and versatile piece. Didnt feel warm on so I have to wait and see how it fares during the winter months (Winter is coming…). A got a pretty cuff from there which was not on sale but I really liked the design and combo. More on it on the Tuesday Trendy Trinket feature on the FB page 🙂

Next I popped into Mango as I spied a nice maxi dress hanging in a rack. On closer inspection it was too printy and night gown like looking. I picked up this black and white vertical strip shirt which I will wear as a cover up. It feels silky satiny to touch and is quite light to wear. Priced at Rs. 2790/- I paid Rs. 2490/- for it. Next I got this beautiful knitted top. Looks like woolen material but it is not and is suitable to wear in present climate. Has a beige base color with flecks of black, brown and metallic gold in it. I don’t know the original price for it as it does not have a tag but I paid Rs. 2390/- for it. Next I spotted these chunky arm candies and the colors were all so lovely and appealing that I picked a whole bunch of them on discounted prices. I even got this thin black strap like thing with diamante which can be worn as a double wrap bracelet. Again you will get more info on these on the Tuesday feature.

I then spotted the Clinique counter and saw that they had gotten the newly launched nail paints (Rs. 1100/-). I really really wanted to get their Black Honey iconic shade as the famous lipstick version of it is not available in India and it gets sold out in their International stores. I spotted these really cute kits from them which has been newly launched. They are about 5 of them each featuring an iconic skincare product from them. These kits are priced at the value of the featured product but you will get 3 products in them along with a cute toiletry bag. They have one ie a 6th one featuring one of their perfume. Great idea for giving gifts! Browsing their setup I decided to pick up the Take Day Off Balm (Rs. 2000/-) which Ankita from Corallista spoke off highly. And I got a eyeshadow brush (Rs. 1350/-) something that I was not aware that Clinique had. I love the packing of it and will keep it aside.

Phew! That was some day. Oh but that was not all 😛 I got 2 of my packages in the mail! One was the Real Techniques Stippling Brush from Feelunique and the other was a package from Rooja. My mom was scandalized when she saw these and was like “what all weird things do you keep buying of the internet!?!” LOL! I have been eyeing these for a long time and could not resist this time. They are travel bags to store your intimates in. One is shaped like a B and the other is shaped like an underwear. I bought matching designs for it….are they not adorable 🙂 The are from a US company called Brag and this design is called Tiffany. I got the large size for the B as 1) it is meant for bigger cup sizes and 2) the other one looked very small and would only carry 3-4 but this one can carry more number of pieces. It is stiff to touch and feels a little heavy so I’m not sure how ideal it would be for travel.
The other one has two compartments where you can store fresh and used clothes separately. That is right size and soft to touch thus making is convenient to carry along. The front and back part of the designs has small pockets thereby giving you additional storage spaces. Under normal circumstances I would be too shy to show these to you like this but given how cute they are I just had to share em :). And that wraps up my haul for this time. Seriously need to hide my cards away!!! But I know I will not be able to survive a shopping ban….makes me very fidgety 😛 Thank God for the off hours I keep and the rising dollar rate. Small mercies…..Well I will see you soon. Buh bye!
In one of the Sample Corner posts awhile back I first introduced an online shop called The Body Needs. This is a place where you can get samples of any and every MAC product (given the availability at the time). They are supposed to be genuine MAC products which they buy full size and then break them down to smaller sizes and sell them. I have reviewed the Brush Cleanser and the Cleanse Off Oil samples from them and felt that they were original. Anyways if for any reason they are not then at least you get some base line idea and then the original will be better than that. That’s my logic.
Today I’m not going to describe the product to you at all except mentioning the colors – Full Fuchsia, Candy Yum-Yum, Lickable, Girl About Town, Crosswires, Russian Red and Mehr. Since these have not been bought from MAC by me I felt that it was not fair to comment about them in any manner. This post is a meant to be a treat for your eyes 🙂 Nothing more….nothing less. I bought a couple of talked about shades from MAC. Over time I have heard so many times and so often about them that I was sorely tempted to buy but with me as you may know by now – hand swatch differs a lot from the lip one. And I end up with a shade that does not suit me as much.
There is not a lot of quantity in each sample but I think it should last you 5-6 uses at least. They cost about $3.79 which in today’s currency rate is quite high. I had bought these sometimes in Jan-Feb and at that time the Rupee was much stronger. Ugh now I have depressed everyone including me 😛 Ok zipping up and leaving you to enjoy the pics…

So which ones are your favorite from these? I really likes Crosswires (looks much better than the pic and is a beautiful coral shade) and Full Fuchsia the best out of the lot and something that I will pick up from MAC. Not going to pick Candy Yum-Yum or Mehr as I didn’t like them at all. On the fence about the other colors.
