Raaga Professional Gold Facial Kit
Who doesn’t love a good facial? An hour or so of pampering can do one’s soul a hell lot of good 🙂 I used to be quite regular with them back when I was in college. I wouldn’t get the whole enchilada done ie to say I took the lighter version (aka sans the vigorous massage) since I was young. But fruit facials with the added benefit of a galvanic treatment were a must for me and probably one of the factors I have good skin. Unfortunately as life got busier my trips became lesser and now I would be lucky to do one in 6 months. So when I got an opportunity to review a facial kit from Raaga a brand belonging to Cavin Kare I was all gung-ho! Granted that the true bliss of a facial is all the wonderful massage that someone else does on you but I needed the power boost of sorts that only a facial can provide. I would like to mention that I have stopped using the Michael Todd cream, that I reviewed recently, sometime back so the results you see are the true indication of the kit being used.
The products that you get in the kit
This is supposed to be a professional kit ie it is not available for retail purchase and is meant for salon use. I’m trying to find out how you can avail of it. So when I get that information I will leave a note at the end of this review. This kit is meant for one time use and is priced at Rs. 325/-. There are 7 steps to it so that means there are seven different products involved – Cleanser, Toner, Exfoliator, Serum, Massage Gel, Peel-off Mask and Day Cream. They have given instructions on the steps and a basic ingredients list but nothing else is mentioned. I would have liked to know how exactly this kit is benefiting the user apart from just “gives you beautiful skin with the radiance of gold”. A little better understanding about how it works and the age group it is meant for would have been nice. Lets look at each product briefly and I will mention them step by step as per the instructions on the kit ie first step first product so on and so forth:
List of step-by-step instructions and ingredients list
Raaga Professional Gold Facial Kit – Gold Cleanser
This is a very thin white colored liquid which is similar to cleansing milk. It has a light floral powdery smell to it. Since it has a creamy texture it makes it easier to massage it on the skin and they ask you to do that for 5 mins. You have to keep adding on more product as you massage coz it sort of gets absorbed into your skin. Once done you need to wipe it off with wet cotton. Doing this as opposed to washing it away with water helps some of the product to adhere to the skin. If you want more moisture then use the cotton else take the traditional route. I felt some tingling on the skin while massaging this.
Raaga Professional Gold Facial Kit – Gold Exfoliator
This is a milky watery gel. When you apply it on the skin you can feel the grainy texture of it. They ask you to cover your face with the product and leave it on for about 3 mins and then start massaging it for about 5. I would advice you that you be very gentle coz even though the grains feel tiny they can be abrasive if rubbed hard. It has a strong musk like smell to it and my skin tingled in certain parts when I was using this. My pores looked smaller and the blackheads seemed a lot lesser on my nose after this step.
Raaga Professional Gold Facial Kit – Gold Toner
This is an orange colored liquid again with a strong floral scent. You are supposed to dab it on your face and leave it alone for 3 mins. This is more like a prep product and it helped to cool down my skin.
Raaga Professional Gold Facial Kit – Gold Toner
This was liquid with a slight oily feel to it. In salon conditions it is meant to be used with an ultrasonic machine which will help this to penetrate the skin faster and deeper. I just applied it on my skin and left it alone for about 15 mins. It smelled like methi seeds (fenugreek) to me for some reason. It does get absorbed but leaves a slight film on the skin.
Raaga Professional Gold Facial Kit – Gold Massage Gel
Ok this is down right pretty to see especially when the light hits it. Its a thick gel with tiny gold flecks/particles in it. Again this too has an oily consistency to it with a light floral smell. You need to massage this for 15-20 mins which frankly I didn’t have the enthu or energy for. I massaged it on for few minutes and then left it on for the remaining 20 minutes. Again this does gets absorbed somewhat but leaves a coat behind and is not to be wiped off.
Raaga Professional Gold Facial Kit – Gold Peel-Off Mask
This step I was a little worried about. The peel off nature of it had me stressing about the pain it would coz me due to the tugging off facial hair. Generally such type of masks if they are not made with the right formulation tend to stick to the skin badly and not peel off properly. It was a white powder with a strong smell to it and I made a paste of it with little amount of water as it was meant to have a thick consistency.
This is how the mask looks like when made into a thick paste and applied on
This is really goopy to put on and doesn’t spread much plus it dries really fast on you and turns rubbery. The good news is that when it dried it was very easy to peel off sans any pain. I guess all the layers of oil that had been left on the skin due to the previous steps were a contributing factor. My skin felt really cool and refreshed after this.
Raaga Professional Gold Facial Kit – Gold Day Cream
This is the last finishing step. The texture of this was light and I needed quite a bit to cover and moisturize my face properly. This reminded me of the snow cream that is available locally both in texture and in smell. It gets absorbed really fast and I had to keep layering it on so that I could get some amount of moisture from it.

Overall after the treatment I felt quite fresh and energized. My skin felt smooth and the pores were almost invisible. Apart from that my face looked matte rather than glowy and there wasn’t anything else that I could notice of it. Usually whatever treatment you do on your skin does make it look better immediately after but the result of a true facial is seen the next day ie the best way to judge the effectiveness of one is to see your skin looks the next day. I have put up before, after and 24 hours later pics for you so that you can see the results for yourself. My skin did look brighter in comparison and the redness that I was having also seems lesser.

The treatment is very rich in nature and I will say that it is meant for normal to dry skin people. You get a lot of products given its price. The results are subtle in nature but you can see a slight difference. I have another kit from them which I will be reviewing shortly. Do let me know what you think of this review. Would you be interested in trying out for yourself. Like I mentioned before I’m not sure of how you can get it for yourself right now but I will update the post with a note in the end later on in case you are interested. Catch you later!
