The Yellow Straw

Melon Medley Straw

The Yellow Straw, Kolkata

I introduced The Yellow Straw on my blog last year as THE place to head to for fresh and amazing juice combinations in Kolkata. When I was invited back to taste their new launches this year I kid you not I was stoked. After having my taste buds blown away by the Chilly Pataka last year I really was looking forward to what unique combination they had up their sleeves this time around. And after the horrible heat the city was facing back then I really needed something cooling and refreshing. So the first thing that I had after getting in was the Melon Medley Straw, which was a blend of watermelon and musk melon, and it was just what I needed. They have introduced 13 new items in the their juice, shakes and dessert sections combined. Plus they provide home delivery too now as they have partnered with Swiggy.

Heart Beet Straw

I tried the Kiwi Pomegranate juice next as I love kiwis and they use one whole fruit per glass. Never thought that the pairing could be so nice and that the two flavors would complement each other so well. At Yellow Straw you can always choose what additions you want to put into your juice like salt or sugar as they give it to you plain aka fresh. The Heart Beet Straw is like a cold soup as it is made from tomato, beet, carrot, ginger and lemon. Have it with a dash of black/rock salt and it is absolutely yum. I usually stay far away from tomatoes but the balance that the other ingredients created made it a very interesting drink to have. I felt the overpowering tomato taste was cut down which made a happy camper.

Rejuvenator Straw

We tried out the Citrus Granate Straw (Orange + Pomegranate), the Rejuvenator Straw (Apple + Pineapple + Lemon) and finished our tasting with a nice bowl of fruit salad topped with ice cream and syrup! They have added a couple of  variants of fruit salad to their menu along with 2 additions to the shakes (Guava Berry and Banana Melody). They are quite pocket friendly considering the portion they give. I love the chilled out ambiance of the place where you can either head on down to with a couple of friends and play the games available or kick back with a book solo. A tall glass of juice (or two) is enough to keep you hydrated and beat the heat this summer. Do check out their new menu. I will see you around 🙂
