I so so so wanted to step foot into a Sephora! Even more so an international one! Just the thought of the amazing brands I could get my hands on there left me in a tizzy and for someone who has been sighing over some of the new launches and not been able to get her hands on coveted items the mere thought that I would finally get to experience Sephora left a twinkle in my eye and a spring in my step. The whole trip to Singapore was one major whirlwind from start to finish as it was a very last minute thing and we had very few days to prepare for it as well in the city itself.
Honestly each days activities would leave me drained and my legs broken! The amount you have to walk is insane and especially for someone like me who leads a very sedentary lifestyle this was like a killer boot camp. Every night we would literally crawl into our beds to reach the pillow where our muscles were protesting with pain. Really felt like I needed new pair of legs just to manage the next day. But the wish of wanting to visit Sephora and Etude kept the fire alive ๐
We chose to go to the one in Vivocity as it was the most convenient given our itinerary. Out of the 4 days we spent 2 of em enjoying the wonders of Sentosa and Vivocity is the point from which you can take all different forms of transport to the island. The first counter I saw when I entered Sephora was Urban Decay and I was sure that I would get my hands on N*ked 3. But unfortunately they didn’t have it ๐ Actually they didn’t have a lot of things that I was expecting them to have. Very few shades in UD lipsticks were available, there was no Marc Jacobs at all, none of the new pieces from Too Faced recent launches like the Chocolate palette were present, their own X series nail paints were missing and so were the exclusive sets ๐ In short a lot of the items that I had on my list I did not find them there.
But that was not to say that I was not spoiled for choices! A lot of good brands were there like Laura Mercier, Fresh, Philosophy, Benefit, etc. to name a few. I picked the Revolution lipstick from Urban Decay in the shade Turn On and the 24X7 Glide On eye pencil in Zero. I was eyeing the Vice 2 palette but it was 4k plus there so I didn’t end up getting it. Oh by the way the product kiosk there have hidden drawers in them. Just tug on the shelf below the displayed product and the stock comes out. In case you didn’t know that tidbit like me ๐
Next I moved on to the Benefit counter. I picked up the They’re Real mascara and a mini kit called You Go Gals featuring That Gal, The Porefessional and Girl Meets Pearl. I love picking up kits as they let you sample multiple products from the same brand at a reasonable price. Prevents you getting stuck with a dud of a product or something that didn’t work for you. I then spotted the Stila counter and picked the shade Kitten from their Magnificent Metals Foil Finish eye shadow. I badly wanted to try these ever since I first heard about their launch.
There were too many tempting items on display and frankly I didn’t carry cartloads of money to cater to my whims ๐ Since the chocolate palette was not available I decided to go with the Shadow Insurance from Too Faced. Next I picked a blush called Dollface from Tarte. Nail paints were a must get on my list so I picked OPI sand in Cant Let Go (yes I finally got one!), Nails Inc Foil in Kings Road, Leather Effect in Soho Mews and Magnetic in Whitehall.
I picked a couple of stuff from Sephora’s inhouse brand and they were quite reasonable in price. I got 2 mask sheets – Pomegranate & Lotus. I spotted these Deodorant Wipes which are great to carry along while travelling. Apart from that I picked a sachet of the Instant Moisture Mask and a thin perfume spray bottle in Lagoon. Phew! Honestly if you have not visited a Sephora yet the sheer goodies on display will leave your head spinning and you would not know where to go. I actually felt lost and dazed for sometime as the all the stuff on my list was not there. And then in the second wave the enormity of choices hit me and I went crazy stuffing the tiny basket they give.
In the third wave some sanity prevailed and I cut out some stuff that I had piled on in the “high” phase. Talk about being a kid in a candy shop and then some! My sister went and sat in corner and watched me go like a mad woman in the store. The gleam in my eye scared her I think and she kept checking on me ๐ She was shocked out of her socks when the final bill came ๐ Well in my defense she bought some stuff too. So what if it was like 20% of the bill……humph!

Just got 4 sachets of these as samples for spending so much ๐ Boo!!! |
