MSM Express Box and MSM Select Box

 

It is so nice to see so many subscription boxes doing the rounds now. After stalking them on their Instagram for sometime I finally caved in and bought myself some MSM boxes. Since I couldnt decide between the 2 types that they offer (I was quite tempted by the sneak peeks of both) I got em both! The MSM Express box costs Rs. 495/- for a month and is supposed to contain samples from upcoming/niche brands. The MSM Select box costs Rs. 995/- for a month and is supposed to contain samples from premium/established brands. They have 2 other variants – Diva which is a makeup special and Bulldawg which is meant for men. You can opt for the 3, 6 or 12 month subscription plan for the 1st two types.

 

MSM February Express Box

 

     I got 5 products in this box all of them full sized – BioBloom Mint Lip Balm (Rs. 90/-), Page 2 Lip Pencil in No. 3 (Rs. 450/-), Essence Cosmetics Lip Liner in Cute Pink (Rs. 129/-), Inatur Daily Care Shampoo (Rs. 110/-) and a Scarf (Rs. 800/-). Out of all the brands in there I have heard of BioBloom before and do own a couple of things from Essence. I really like the lip liner from it that they have sent. A soft pink shade which will go well with a lot of lipsticks that I have. BioBloom I’m not tying out simply coz I have too many lip balms already and I would rather add this as a part of one of my future giveaways or something.

Can you spot the butterfly on the scarf?

 

     There is no mention of the brand or shop to which the scarf belongs too. It has a detailed butterfly print on a blue background. It is quite pretty and I like it but the quality of the cloth makes me wonder if it is actually for 800 bucks. The last two brands I have not heard about before at all. The lip pencil from Page 3 is the biggest disappointment for me in this box. The color is a purple toned pink which I don’t think is very flattering for an Indian skin tone. Plus I had to rub it couple of times on my lips to get proper pigmentation and then too it was patchy from places. Plus the color tends to move about if you rub your lips together further leading to the patchiness. The texture though it looks like cream but is drying on the lips and tends to emphasize the dry patches on them. Not worth 450 bucks at all!

Inatur Shampoo and BioBloom Lip Balm

 

     The shampoo is the one that they had revealed in their sneak peek and given their description of it I was quite interested in trying it out and hence that lead to me purchasing this box in the first place. More on it after I have put it through its paces. This seems to be an Indian brand so lets see how things go. Overall the only things I truly liked in the box (based on 1st impressions) are the lip liner and the scarf. I will admit that I am slightly disappointed with it and personally would not recommend it.

     I got 5 products in this too and except for 1 the rest are all full sized – Vichy Aqualia Thermal Night Spa Sleeping Mask (Sample 15ml. Full size 75ml – Rs. 1690/-), Ma Earth Botanicals Lavender Facial Scrub (Rs. 275/-), Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Asia (Rs. 225/-), Saante Soap (not sure if this is full size though – Rs. 75/-) and a Trio of Bracelets (Rs. 1200/-). Vichy and Rimmel are the known brands and the other 2 are new to me…no idea where the bracelet is from. Overall I will say that I really liked this box from the get go. And this goes for both the boxes – I really like how they give you an assortment of stuff in a box from skincare to makeup and even accessories.

 

Rimmel Long Lasting Lipstick in Asia and the Bracelet Trio

     The lipstick from Rimmel is a beautiful rose brown shade which is one of those MLBB (my lips but better) shades aka the perfect n*de lipstick for Indian skintones. Im yet to try out any of the remaining products in the box but lets do a quick touch up for them. The soap Im confused whether it is full size or not coz it is neither listed on MSM’s site nor on the brand’s FB page. Nor have they mentioned the name/variant but Im sure it is sandalwood coz it smells exactly like Mysore Sandalwood Soap :D. The lavender scrub was the secret reveal from them and the reason why I bought the box. The powder is so finely milled that at one point I was confused that it is actually a mousse texture 😛 And it smells divine!

Bracelet trio

 

     I really like the bracelet trio! Quite pretty thought I seriously doubt that it is for 1200 bucks (well my friends call me a jewelry connoisseur…ahem! 😛 😀 ). Vichy as a brand I have never tried before but I have heard a lot of good things about it through the years. So Im quite happy to give my first product from the brand a go. Overall I would say that I really liked the box quite a lot and I would like to purchase it again sometime in the future. I will recommend that you get yourself this one if you are interested in trying them out.

     They had packed everything inside so well with so much packing material that nothing could budge! Each box then was packed individually in a cardboard box before it was shipped to me. Really appreciate the care they took with it! All the stuff was packed individually too so much so that bubble paper was stuffed inside the Vichy box as well 🙂 Wow! Quite a few things I liked about how they do things and I will think of getting myself another one in the near future. Have you tried them yet? How was your experience with it?
