Maybelline has been on the top of its game this year. They have released some really good products and at affordable prices which has set all the social channels abuzz. Now as the year wraps up they come out with another unique offering – Lip Polish which delivers the shine of a gloss, color of lipstick and care of a balm. The PR was kind enough to send me a sample of the stuff before it hit the shelves. So today I will introduce you to Maybelline Lip Polish in Glam 13.

Packing
The design of the packing is quite interesting. It looks like a lipstick encased in a transparent cover 🙂 But in actuality you twist the metal top to reveal the flattened doe foot applicator. The color of the product can be made out easily owning to the transparency. I love how it serves the dual purpose of adding a charm to the packing and making it convenient to see the color. The entire thing is about 2 inches tall and looks like a good quality product. The applicator is slightly wider than standard but it helps to cover a large area quicker and is by no means cumbersome. Quite easy to tote around even in a clutch.
Texture

It has a thick non-sticky texture that coats your lips. If you have dry lips and it is feeling uncomfortable then this product has you “covered” (pun intended). It does feel like you have a cover on and the discomfort due to dryness becomes unnoticeable. Inspite of the creaminess of the thing it does not move around on your lips nor does it tend to feather/bleed.
Pigmentation
I think the best way that I can describe this color is to call it a rosy brown shade. It has a very glossy look to it and contains very fine gold shimmer in it which is very hard to make out but adds a lovely dimension to the whole thing. It gave me full coverage even on my pigmented lips which is very rare to find in a lipgloss/lip balm. Maybelline promises a proper hybrid and it delivers on it completely.

The glossiness of it adds a slight plumping effect/illusion to the lips. It goes away completely by the 6th kiss in the “kiss test” (where I kiss the back of my hand). It fades evenly but tends to sit in the lines by the 4th kiss. I think lasted approximately around 3-4 hours on me and that is with consuming water. Even though it is glossy and looks like it will “dessert ship” on first contact but it menages to cling on to the lips.
There are 2 variants in it – Pop & Glam and between them they have 15 shades. It is priced at Rs. 450/- for 5 ml which according to me is pretty decent given the quality and performance of the thing. I’m not into brown shades so this one misses the mark for me on that front but I really like the texture and feel of it and will get some of the other available colors. Oh I forgot to mention that it is smell and taste free. Do give it a go. I’m sure even the lipgloss averse would like to try this. That wraps up this review me chicas! I will see you soon – Peace!
