Empties

Fine he didn’t but I bet that got your attention in a jiffy ๐Ÿ˜€ He had better things to do like predict the gloom and doom and ultimate destruction of the world (what is the life-as-we-know-it-end-date now?). And I, like a lazy bum, have been struggling to finally finish off a couple of products so that I can show them off with a relish and a feeling of personal achievement to you. Honestly that last mile where you are about to finish something off can drive anyone crazy….especially a hoarder like me who has a very short attention span and dying to move on to the next item in her stash. So without further ado let’s look at

     Olive Essence Care Hair Mask
Olive Essence

My sister bought this over when she came visiting from the UK. Essentially it is a conditioner and something very unknown to me in terms of the brand/company. This is a huge 500 ml jar and had a thick moisturizer like consistency. The smell was actually quite nice and not too strong. I used it for a couple of months after which I got bored with it and left it to my mom to finish off ๐Ÿ˜› Like I have mentioned before I have an oily scalp but dry ends and need something to provide me a decent amount of moisturization. I prefer to use a product that is adequate on its own and not something that I need to layer with other stuff to get my desired level of softness. Unfortunately it falls in the latter slot. Some days it was ok making my hair feel “normal” and other days it fell short and I had to finish my routine off with a serum. I’m glad that it is finally over and I will not be purchasing this again.

VOV Perfume Polish Cleansing

This was left behind by my other sister when she shifted base to US. I just wanted to finish it off and not end up wasting it. It is supposed to be acetone free and have a slight strawberry smell to it. Overall I didn’t like it much and in the end I was using it to clean up polish stains or stamping plates or polish spills. I didn’t like how it left my nails looking dry and whitish after rubbing off the polish. And to top it off it is not strong even to lift the stains from the nail/skin like Lakme does. You need a lot of it. Not purchasing it ever again.
Yardley Lace & Jasmine
Yardley

I love shopping for deos. I have a couple of them stashed away in different parts of my room and some bottles in storage waiting their turn. I keep a can in the shower which I spritz on after my shower and another that I keep on my dresser which I layer with my perfume before I step out. No they are not just about whether you smell hinky but for the basic thing of feeling good about yourself that you are minty (?) fresh ๐Ÿ˜€ I love the Lace one and might pick it up again. I don’t know what was going on in my head when I picked up the Jasmine one. Where Lace is soft and feminine Jasmine is on the stronger side and can get obnoxious if you spritz on too much. But the good thing about it is that it lasts longer.
Kaminomoto Hair Growth Accelerator
Kaminomoto

I spotted this on one of my trips to Mumbai. There were 2 versions to this and I picked this as they have mentioned that it was for fighting hair loss and stimulating regrowth. I used it every night for about 2 months and after that I became sporadic with it using it maybe 2-3 times in a week. The consistency and smell of it is quite similar to Keo Karpin. I have thinning hair issues and a ridiculously slow hair growth rate. The reason that I became offhanded with it is coz it didn’t do anything for me per say. There was not a noticeable difference in the fall, no difference in the growth rate and lets not even talk about the regrowth part ๐Ÿ˜› I was expecting it to show some results as it supposed to be a special herbal concoction from Japan. Not buying it again. I would rather get Kerastase Stimulase. Atleast that worked.
Clinique Liquid Facial Soap – Oily Skin Formula
Clinique

Finally finished this off!!! Phew! I got the 3 step system 2 years back and it has taken me forever to finish it even with regular use. I got done with the moisturizer last year, now managed to finish the cleanser and the toner still has a couple of uses left ๐Ÿ˜› But in all fairness it did really work for my skin. And now that it has been sometime since I have been off this cleanser I’m actually appreciating the difference it was making for me. I’m getting that slight rash like coverage on my skin again which are largely coz of my bad eating habits but atleast this was keeping things in check. I will definitely buy this again after sometime. Want to try to see if I can find a decent alternative to it in the meanwhile.
Toni & Guy Refreshing Dry Shampoo
Toni & Guy

Ok this is like my 6th or 7th can of the stuff. This is a must have for me and right now I’m having a tough time finding it. This is such a life saver. I know a lot of people have doubts about it and are apprehensive but when you are caught in a tight spot this comes like the knight on a white horse and rescues you. A little spritz of this stuff freshens your hair instantly….not just-wash-fresh but more like 2nd-day-fresh….and have you out the door in a matter of minutes. I end up getting caught in the spot as I have oily scalp and dry hair. It often gives the illusion that it is doable but the moment I comb my hair after shower that bam it turns all greasy on me. And no talc in your hair does not give you nearly the same result. You will end up with white hair and not to mention the oily goop it becomes ๐Ÿ˜› This is way better.
So those were my empties. Acquired a lot of stuff over time for review but sometimes things slip through the cracks and at other times they are just so uninspiring that I don’t feel like writing a whole post on them. This quick recap method kills two birds with one stone ๐Ÿ™‚
