Revlon Nail Art Moon Candy in Satellite

Revlon recently launched these nail art duos range on their counters. There are 3 types available in it. Sorry I don’t remember the other two. But do check out Dolon of Pout Pretty’s post on them and she has mentioned the 3 types in detail. I picked up one called Revlon Nail Art Moon Candy in the shade Satellite. I really like this concept of theirs and the packing is interesting. They have some funky color combinations in these.

Let me start by describing the packing to you and then we will move on to the other qualities. The whole thing is about 3 inches tall. 2 inches are made of glass and the center 1 inch is made from cheap looking white plastic.

There are 2 different colors in this one product. An opaque maroon color and a translucent light pink color with gold based multicolored reflecting foil bits in it. The brush is like most standard nail paint applicators and both sides have the same type. The maroon is quite opaque and 2 coats cover the nail entirely. I like the texture of it as it glides on smoothly and does not show any streaks or patches.

The pink color does not show over the maroon one and has to sort of be patted at times so that the gold foil transfers evenly onto the nail. I really like how the pieces are abstract and look like bits in place of having defined structure. The top felt gritty to touch and some pieces were sticking up. So I topped it off with a clear coat of paint and it was all good. I had four coats of paint on and in my experience the more the number of coats the faster the paint chips.

But these babies last!!! Probably one of the few ones I have seen that have lasted for so long. By the 3rd day there was little fraying of the tips but it was not noticeable at all. It remained in the same state till the 6th day and by the 7th day there was noticeable chipping and I had to change my paint. They are a pain, sort of, to take off but not as much as proper glitter ones. Just the flecks take time to come off. I read some other blog where the author mentioned that it did not last for her. Ok I don’t do work around the house so maybe that it why it lasted as long as it did for me (ugh I know how this sentence sounds but I just wanted to give an explanation for my observation. Sorry but it is not intended to pass any under hand remarks). But their staying power has me gob smacked!

I was really scared of taking it off as I had read Pout Pretty’s post where she said that they stained her nails badly. The thought of what lay for me underneath was scary. But when I took it off it was not as bad in my opinion. Sure there was some amount of staining but not too bad and if you leave your nails free of polish for a few days then these do fade away.

I really like how they look and love the entire idea. Revlon has a mix of stuff where it gets some right and some so wrong that is not funny. But this one they got it right. And for a mere 300 bucks they give you pretty and affordable paints. So its a thumbs up from me. Do let me know what you think about them? Have you bought any from the collection? Which colors are you going to pick up? I will see you in the next review. As ta la Vista Baby!
