Maybelline is back with another variant to their very popular Baby Lips line with a promise of vibrant neon shades. They have launched 4 variants to it with flavors like lemon, orange, watermelon and strawberry. Out of these 3 provide a sheer shade to the lips and one is transparent. The PR of the company was kind enough to send me 2 variants to try out – Oh Orange and Pink Shock (Watermelon flavor). It has been quite sometime since I have done a product review so please bear with me. I don’t want to do them the way I doing em ie in the systematic break down method but will just go with the flow of it so that I can get into the mode again.

Well since winters are finally here I got the perfect opportunity to test these out. My lips get quite dry and chapped and I need to keep applying something frequently just to keep them bearable. The product needs to be really potent for me just to be able to get by at times. I will be upfront and admit that the earlier versions of the baby lips didn’t do anything for me. So I was not expecting anything out of these except to check out the “neon” aspect of theirs. Given the name I was expecting them to deliver deep dark colors to the lips. But the irony of it all…I got the exact opposite 😀

The shades leave a sheer tint on my lips but give me proper moisturization! I mean giving me extended amount of relief so that I’m not reaching for it like every 5 mins. My lips have actually healed and remain soft for a good part of the day. I really like the combination of the black with the bright shades on the packing. The cap is transparent this time around with the name of the shade printed on it on the side. It just adds to the overall appeal of it.

Maybelline Baby Lips Electro Pop oh orange
Maybelline Baby Lips Electro Pop Oh! Orange!

Oh Orange smells like orange candy! It gives a very light peach like shade to my lips. Though I’m not a fan of the smell as I’m not found of citrusy smells but I like the color it imparts. Very natural looking and great for school/college going girls. If you have dark pigmented lips then it might not do anything for you though. My upper lip is a lot darker than my lower one I can barely make anything out on it.

Maybelline Baby Lips Electro Pop Pink shock
Maybelline Baby Lips Electro Pop Pink Shock

Pink Shock looks like a fuchsia shade in the tube and translates on to a very deep pink on the lips. If you want color then this is the one to go for between the two. What I liked was that I could build on this shade and actually make it deeper. Though it does not cover the pigmentation but it still shows up quite decently. I didn’t smell the watermelon part of it but there was a slight flavor that I could make out. This one is perfect for college/working girls who want some color too.

Given its texture it does not last too long on the lips so if you want the color you need to keep reapplying it. But when it comes to hydration I’m really lovin the new formula and at max find myself applying it twice in a 24 hour period. So for me it exceeds its 8 hour claim. Enriched with the goodness of shea butter and vitamin e these just might be your new best friends this winter. If you don’t want any color at all then opt for the lemon variant which is available at a lower rate of Rs. 135/. And with that I wrap up this review girlies! See ya soon…
