Continuing what I picked up from the recent MAC Retro Matte collection. I got this lip pencil from them. Now I don’t generally wear a lip pencil. I prefer to use the tip of the lipstick I’m wearing to give an outline. This helps firstly coz I don’t have to face the hassle of matching the colors and secondly piling on additional stuff. I picked this one up coz it looked coral when I swatched it in the store and since I had not seen any swatches of it earlier I gave into my misconception and took it. But it is nowhere near coral.
Again it is standard MAC packing. The pencil is about 4 inches in length and need to be sharpened. The texture is really smooth and glides on. What I found really great about it is its lasting power. I put it along with the lipstick I reviewed from the collection earlier. This one was on me for a little over 7 hours. Since I don’t buy too many lip pencils I’m not so aware about their usual texture but this one is pretty much the same as the other pencil I have from MAC. That is too say they both set to a matte look.

The color is a bright red without any blue tone to it. A pretty shade which will help to prevent your reds from bleeding or feathering. To make your lipstick last longer you can cover it first with the liner and then top it off with the lipstick. Or you can even use to create a ombre effect on your lips, a dimension of sorts, by filling only the outer half of the lips with it leaving the center area bare. Then fill your lipstick all over. This will make the center portion lighter than the rest hence creating the dimension.
That was all that I got from this collection. MAC Illustrated and Indulge will be out soon sometime towards the later half of this month. I have my eye on the illustrated one coz they look so pretty but I doubt I will pick anything from either collection. What about you? Any of the upcoming MAC collections you have your eye on?
Would you purchase MAC Retro Matte Pro Longwear Lip Pencil High Energy again? – I don’t buy lip pencils in general and this one is quite expensive. So no I would not.
