Happy Sunday everyone 🙂 The week rounds up and for me this is a lazy day. I like to sleep and lull around on this day. Just something about it. I saw so many of you taking up this very interesting tag and it was great to come to know you a little better. Today I will talk about 2 songs and what they mean to me. One song was stuck in my head and I just knew I had to put it here. It is quite old and not something that I hear often but….and the second one was a really difficult choice. Well getting on with the challenge….

The Godfather theme song
I bet none of you expected this 🙂 I cant begin to tell you how much I love this movie and how many more times I love the book. There are all shades of grey in it but very real. It is dark and twisted probably one of the first “real” books I read. Sort of my coming-to-age book as far as my reading preference goes. This melody will haunt you….fill your soul….ebb your emotions. If you have seen the movie you will relate to it. But even if you haven’t, you wont help put get pulled under its spell.
When I hear it I get caught in a tide of overpowering emotions….where a part of me weeps broken tears and the other soars with hope and joy. I can almost see myself in a room with a wooden floor, huge glass french windows with the light streaming in. I let the tune capture me to a point where I’m dancing in the center. While my eyes are crying floods of tears my heart is filled with hope and my feet dance with joy. Twirling around and living all that has once be and all that is to come. That violin playing shreds my heart but makes it whole again. That is what this song is for me.
There is a beautiful original rendition called “Speak Softly” and I have attached that too. This one I discovered recently and as me equally captured but for different reasons. Read the lyrics in the description box of the link. Simply beautiful!
The second song I’m still not sure if I made the right choice. There are just too many songs in my life that are special and hold so many memories. “Backstreets back” which me and my closest friends danced too….holds a very special in our hearts coz of those wonderful school time memories. “Where ever you go” is a song I remember from when I was 16 and in love for the first time….ahhh sweet memories 🙂 Songs by Enigma which evoke the Pagan in me. So many songs….how do I choose one? But I did and I relate to it a lot. Especially for the last couple of years…
Till I Collapse by Eminem
Yes I choose a hip-hop number. For me, apart from the Punjabi songs, this is music 🙂 I can groove to it, dance to it and basically identify with it the most. This song is from a movie called Real Steel which is a really good movie to watch. Well Hugh Jackman is there and that says it all but for those of you for whom that it not enough ( :O Really?!?) this is a interesting story line. The song talks about getting up and fighting no matter how much you have been beaten down. Till you collapse and cant do it anymore. I have attached the lyrics version. Just read the first half as in the first slide and then the last one….that is what this song is to me.
“Until the roof,
The roof comes off.
Until my legs,
Give out from underneath me.

I will not fall,
I will stand tall,
Feels like no one can beat me.”
Now are they not just words to live by? So those were my 2 songs. I have told you a lot about myself in them. What do you think of my choices? Have any of these touched you in any way? I will be back with the 3 films next week. Honestly I don’t know which ones will fight their way here coz once again there are too many. See you soon!
