That’s my “art-work” 🙂 What do you think?

     I got this off an online site after hearing some people talking about it. This is not a brand that I usually look at but on my recent trip to Mumbai I ended up hauling some products off it. Honestly don’t ask me how or why. I’m left wondering myself 😛 But some were good discoveries and I will cover those later. Before we start off I will say that I have a major beef with this brand. Remember the brand Anna Andre and how they had this whole story about it being the line from some famous makeup artist???

      Well I looked into it and the first thing that caught my attention was that if it was truly an international brand how come not one and I mean not one international blog had any reviews for it?? I tried searching for the makeup artist and didn’t get anything. After some digging it turned out that they were made by a company in India and the whole front was fake. Coming to Colorbar again I did not find any international blog reviews on it. For a company that adds “USA” to its name should there not have been at least one review? Secondly if you look at the pack the product is apparently made in Germany and is imported and marketed by Colorbar Cosmetics, New Delhi. An international company that is big enough to have its own subsidiary in our country where a lot of them come through distributors but does not have a single international blogger talking about their stuff. I find it very very odd…..If you go to their site all the products are listed in Rupees. I’m just saying that I don’t like this whole front business thing.

     Moving on….after hearing a lot about how smooth and wonderful this stuff was I got one to try for myself and at first I was quite impressed coz it did feel like it was gliding on. Not as smooth as some of the others I have tried from other brands but quite good. Now as I write this review it has been almost a month since I procured it and it is a different story. Though it is still quite easy to swatch it at the back of the hand there is a bit of tugging involved while working it on the lids and the product feels dry rather the tip feels dry. If you have the habit of holding your skin taut while putting on a pencil then you are still better off. But for the other half who don’t prefer that method you are in for a bit of “drag” (pun intended).

     The color is a really pretty teal shade. Turquoise is usually shades lighter in nature but this is a rich dark bluish green shade which is closer to teal. It comes in a thin pencil format which needs to be sharpened. Once this sets it does not budge at all. I had to vigorously rub the back of my hand so much so that it became red to smudge this thing a bit. So this baby stays put. The color is real gorgeous and it costs about Rs. 400 for 1.1 gms of product.

     But I found another thing about it. Once it gets wet all bets are off. It rubs off partly and partly comes out in flakes aka it is not waterproof. So if you are in the habit of rubbing your eyes be a little aware about this. Overall I guess you can say that it is decent for its price range but I will admit I have seen better. The only plus I find in it is the gorgeous color. So what are your thoughts on it? I know a lot of people really like it but for me it was a little meh.
