outfit of the day

Can you believe it is September already?!? Time has literally flown in the blink of an eye…I cant believe that within a matter of few weeks Durga puja will be here and with it the promise of a new year. 2014 has been quite rich and rewarding so far (touch wood) and I can only hope it spills into the coming year. By the blessings of the Goddess, I’m sure there will be a lot to look forward too in everyone’s lives. A few days back I shared with you my experience with a new salon. Today I want to share what I wore to the event. Also some wonderful photography of a weird and conscious model by my girl Poorna of Presented by P.

I bought this dress as a gift to myself on my birthday 🙂 Very hesitantly I walked into a store called Anokhi, which I always avoided thinking that they would be terribly expensive. Their whole layout seems like a cross between Fabindia and Ritu Beri to me and something about that gave me a pause. Mind I have shopped in both theses places but for the life of me don’t know why I avoided Anokhi. Strange how your mind perceives certain things and throws up unnecessary blocks.

But I’m so glad that I walked in and I fell in love with their collection! These have these typical Indian prints, colors, materials but done in a completely different style. I saw some beautiful dresses there and was hard pressed to choose between two. But eventually this one won out…I love how it cinches below the bust and then flows out just right. Not adding to my bulk but falling gracefully down. The color and print is so Indian but the way they all come together give it a modern and contemporary look.

I paired it with the crochet jacket that I got from Only (featured in my T.M.I tag video), my purse from Charles & Keith and accessories from Accessorize. The bracelet stack too was featured in the video. I really love this bunny necklace that I picked up and where it whenever I want something simple to go with the outfit I’m wearing. I didn’t pile on statement pieces with this outfit as I wanted the focus on the dress. So what do you guys think about the outfit? Is there a place that you have hesitated from walking into coz of some preconceived notion? Where you able to shake it off? Waiting to hear from you guys. See you later, alligator 😉
