Sometime back Maybelline created quite a buzz when it launched the Hyper Glossy liner in black. The stuff was sold out on shelves and even online shops were out of stock. I guess I was not the only one who wished that a liner retained the glossy wet look that was just so intense and pretty. They really hit the mark with that one and now they are taking it up a notch. New colors have been introduced to add that “Pop” to your summer look.
I was sent over this sample by the team for review and I got the shade Tangerine Orange which is a bright neon-ish orange shade. In all honesty, I would have never picked up this shade if I had seen it in the counter and would have purchased the teal one as that is more to my taste. But something about this color is interesting.
Ok let me go over some basics of it first before we break down some looks. It comes in a small shiny black plastic bottle with a long cap and the whole thing is about 3-4 inches. There is a nice fine brush attached to the cap which, if you are so inclined, can help you create precision lines and do some creative work. The product is odorless and looks shiny even on drying. I didn’t wear it for too long yet so don’t know how much it will last. My only iffy-ness with it is that it is fast drying (though a good thing I guess) and you have to sort of dip in the tub again to finish your eye. Smudge proof but not water resistant. Price is Rs. 350/- for 3 gms of product.
Coming to the looks, I think my most preferred way of donning this would to pair it with a thin black line. That helps to accentuate both the bright color and the eye. It can be worn by itself but the black just adds an extra dimension to it which is quite eye-catching. I felt that when I wore it by itself it made my eye appear smaller but pairing it helped to define my eye shape and it helped to accentuate the eye color. I tried pairing it with another colored liner but didn’t like the result as it became OTT. How would you like to pair this bright color?
I did notice something, once it dries it feels like it is hard on the skin (especially when I had the cat eye on) and a little tuggy, you know how sometimes the natural liners feel……and when I went over it with the black one the orange color lifted from the area where I was sort of working in the black. When I try to put it on top of another liner it does not translate out so well how it does on bare skin and looked kinda weird.
I’m excited to see how the teal one will look on me. Have any of you tried it yet? Which one is your fav? Do write in and let me know. Take care – Bye!
Would you purchase Maybelline Hyper Glossy Runway Pop Liquid Liner Tangerine Orange again? – No but I will look into the other colors.
Would you recommend Maybelline Hyper Glossy Runway Pop Liquid Liner Tangerine Orange to your friend? – Maybe. On the fence about this color. But the product I would.
Hello my divas! Today I bring to you a product which has already done its set of rounds in the blogging world. I wanted to present to you this product from my view point ie being a woman over 30. When you are younger you don’t have so many issues with your skin per say or rather they are not so pronounced. Once you reach 25 things being to change and slight noticeable differences crop up. They might not be cause for concern just yet.
But once you hit the big 3-0 its a whole different ball game. The small issues become major ones and your skin for the life of you does not snap back and roll. The same things that you were doing earlier become ineffective for you. On top of that new issues start creeping up that the younger you never faced for example pimples. Needless to say that extra effort is needed just to level the playing field.
As everyone knows the BB bandwagon has been big and everybody has been jumping on it. The search for that one product that will do everything for you – moisturize, conceal, brighten, etc. is still on. When Maybelline had launched their BB cream version earlier I tried it out just to fall in line with what others were raving about. Honestly I was really disappointed with that one. I don’t know if it was the color the SA gave me but when I put it on I had this white cast on my face which even after oxidizing remained. The product didn’t do anything for me. Such a disappointment!
But when Maybelline approached me and sent this sample for the BB stick version I honestly was not expecting anything out of it. But I was surprised with the product. Ok let me first talk about the product stand alone and I will then speak about it in context to myself.
Packaged in the signature Maybelline BB colors this a thick plastic tube with a transparent plastic cap. You need to twist it up to get more of the product something like a lipstick tube. The product is fragrance free so that is good news for those of you who are sensitive. If you have used any face product which comes in a stick you would know that it is usually very thick, drying and at times cakey. Mostly the heavy coverage products would come in a stick formulation. But this is very unlike those. The texture is very smooth and just glides on to your skin. It is so easy to blend it out that you can just as easily do it with your fingers.
The product feels creamy when you apply it from the stick and then when you start to blend it out with your fingers you will feel its powdery texture. Just a little work and it blends seamlessly into your skin. I got the shade Fawn and when I saw it in the tube I felt that it was too dark for me and especially thinking of the whole oxidization process its predecessor went through my apprehension increased. But I was wrong. It just merged with my color and I could not tell which half of the face I had it on just by a glance. Very natural looking. The concept is very good in the sense this one stick will act like your foundation and concealer. The packing makes it convenient for travel even day to day in your purse. What I liked probably the best about it was how it covered up my pores….I noticed a big difference in that.
Now having said that lets get down to what I personally felt about it. My skin has become dry from a combination skin actually it is a combination now of dry and normal rather than normal and oily. So I used this product on freshly washed and toned skin and just half of my face ie I skipped the moisturizer. The half that didn’t have the BB stick on fell stretchy and I wanted to reach out for my lotion. On the other hand the half that did have it felt “normal” in the sense that I felt like I needed my lotion but could pass on it for like an hour. Skin was not feeling stretchy but was not to the level of moisture I like it to be.
Secondly, I know it is a matte product and that is great for places like Mumbai and/or for oily skinned people. But for me I like a product that imparts a glow to the skin. Makes the skin look fresh and healthy. I’m not a fan of matte face product. I wished that it had that little extra going for me. My skin looked very natural and like I had nothing on in the blah sense and for me that is not really a very good thing.
Thirdly, this one product does not do all for me. I did feel like I needed some extra coverage under my eyes and on my blemish as well. I did like how my pores were so reduced but that’s about it. I would still like to lug around my most recent foundation find (I’m in love with it) and my trusty concealer with me on travel. But yes I could carry this in my purse and use it for touching up my base created by my other products.
Sorry for the weird pic 😛 The darkness on the left side is due to the lighting and not the product. Please click on the pic to enlarge it to get a better view. |
To some it up, I like this product especially seeing that it only costs you Rs. 250/- for 10 gms of product. Whereas my alternatives cost around 1500-2000/- combined. If I was younger this would have been my goto product. So I would personally recommend this for college and office goers. But for me it missed the mark a little. Just a little more and I would have been all set. I really must give props to the smooth texture of this product.
Another weird pic *ugh*. But I hope it helps to clarify what I said about it. Please click on the pic to enlarge it to get a better view. |
That was that for this review. Hope you found it useful. Do get back to me with your thoughts and views about the review and your personal experience with the product. Please be safe! Bye!
Would you purchase Maybelline Clear Glow BB Stick Fawn again? – No I would not.
Would you recommend Maybelline Clear Glow BB Stick Fawn to your friend? – I would recommend it to my sisters who are younger than me. As for my friends who are around my age probably not. I also wish there were more color variations available.

Please Stay Plum in the bottom and Eternal Rose on the top |
Maybelline recently launched their 14hr Super stay lipstick among much fanfare. From a launch event in a Mumbai mall to flash contests being held all over the blogsphere. Available in 16 shades from creamy colors to ones with shimmer you can take your pick from the lot. They have already created quite a buzz in our world with Eternal Rose leading the front lines. I bought this shade too after seeing Ankita from Corallista wearing it in one of her tuts. It looked superb on her.
Ok so since there has been so much flutter around Eternal rose I will not be doing a separate post for it. But I will compare it with the Please Stay Plum and also put up swatches for it in this post itself. I want to clarify that Eternal Rose I bought for myself and Please Stay Plum was sent to me by the company.
Let me talk about the packing first – it comes in a bullet like shaped packing with a transparent plastic casing the lipstick and a white plastic cap. Maybelline mentions that the packing is unique as you can see the exact color of the lippy from the outside thus making it easier for you to make your choice. Personally I’m a strong advocator of swatching the product before picking something and where possible do a lip swatch. I have walked away with a number of lippies which looked excellent on the back of my hand but were a disaster on my lips….I know it is not possible but i just want to say that you should make use of the option where ever you can.

Coming to the shade. Please Stay Plum is a rich berry shade with gold shimmer to it. I felt that Eternal Rose was more pigmented than the Plum. These lipsticks smell like candy to me something like an orange drop or maybe even jellybeans (nom nom)….The texture is really smooth. I found a difference in texture between the plum and the rose shade. The rose was more dry in nature in comparison. The plum went on more creamy. Like for the rose I need to prep my lips with Baby lips for sometime before using it but I didn’t have that sort of issue with the plum. I don’t know why this difference is there. If it is coz I bought one and the other was from the company? Or coz of the one month difference in import dates? I found it strange actually.
Left in both lights – Please Stay Plum. Right in both lights – Eternal Rose |
I did a test for both to see if they actually last as long as it is claimed. I tried the plum shade for about 5 hrs. The thing is that it does not completely last for that long ie it is not meal-proof. If you eat or drink the color from the center of your lips fades or disappears gradually Actually the fade was more noticeable in the plum shade since it was darker. For the rose the second set of meal made the fade noticeable But having said that, the color does not smudge, feather or transfer anywhere especially the rose one. And the rest of the lip color remains intact so you would need to just do a touch up on the center of your mouth after a meal. After 5 hrs the rose color felt more drying on my lips and since I had not done any touch up to it was patchy and grainy looking.
I did not go the entire span of stipulated time with the test thing. Given its previous counterparts this version is definitely an improvement especially because of the texture it provides. Though it will not last for you for the full 14hrs but it will surely decrease your touch up intervals and thereby giving you some relief. You just need to bother with it after meals and forget about it the rest of the time. So not a bad deal. The product costs Rs. 525/- for 3.3 gms of product and has an expiry date after 3 years.
So my chicas will you be picking something up from this range? Please leave your thoughts and comments about this review below. Until next time my sweets! Take care 🙂
PS – If you want to see the lip swatch of Eternal Rose then take a look at my FB display pic shown in the right sidebar.
Would you purchase Maybelline 14hr Super Stay Lipstick Please Stay Plum again? – I would not buy this color as I don’t wear such dark shades but I will try out some other colors from this range.
Would you recommend Maybelline 14hr Super Stay Lipstick Please Stay Plum to your friend? – Yes I would actually recommend the entire range rather than only this particular color.
