Shikha Says:

Winter is acting shy already! It is becoming hot in Kolkata now 🙁 (sigh)….came in so late an going so early….Any-hoo today I bring to you another offering from the house of Sleek makeup – the LE Sparkle 2 palette. If you are all about the bling then this is definitely something for you to look into. This is my second time round buying one of these LE palettes from this brand and personally they have been sort of a hit and miss. Some of the colors have decent to good pigmentation while others completely miss the mark.

There are 12 shades in total like all other palettes from the brand. 8 are sparkly shades and 4 are metallic. The mix of colors is interesting and has holiday themed names like Tinsel, Mistletoe, Festive, etc. I really like the fact that they have included metallic colors in the 4 basic shades of gold, silver, bronze and copper. These are mineral based shadows. Lets look at the names:

Top row left hand corner – Chocolate Penny, Blue Spruce, Mulled Wine, Truffle, Mistletoe and Illusion. Bottom row left hand corner – Festive, Gold Ribbon, Glitz & Glamour, Tinsel, Twinkle and Starry Night.
Chocolate Penny – a metallic deep bronze shade.
Blue Spruce – a greenish blue shade with silver and blue shimmer in it
Mulled Wine – a wine color with gold shimmer
Truffle – a metallic brown copper color
Mistletoe – a deep green color with gold shimmer
Illusion – a berry color with silver shimmer
Festive – a plum shade with silver shimmer.
Gold Ribbon – metllic gold color
Glitz & Glamour – a charcoal shade with silver and blue shimmer.
Tinsel – metallic silver shade.
Twinkle – navy blue shade with blue shimmer.
Starry Night – black color with silver shimmer.
Overall the pigmentation is pretty decent. Some shades like Mulled Wine and Blue Spruce are lighter in color when compared to the others and some shades like Mistletoe, Illusion and Twinkle feel gritty to touch. All of them go on smoothly. The red based shades are tricky to work with in the sense it is so easy to get them wrong as they can make you look like you have been punched in the eye. But pairing them with the metallic colors can help to eliminate this problem.

The palette costs $9.99 (Rs. 535/- approx). Given the price it is quite economical. I personally like the Mistletoe, Chocolate Penny and Truffle shade the best out of all colors. The rest are passable. Since I have such a huge range of eye makeup collection this did not offer me anything new. So I’m a little put off by it.
For a seasoned collector of makeup, even though the price is reasonable I would not recommend this palette as apart from the 3 mentioned shades the others are not really worth having and the fact that there are 3 red based colors which are difficult to work with makes this palette even more unappealing.
But if you are a new collector then this palette could work for you as it contains the basic metallic shades and some interesting shimmer ones. Added to that the price factor makes it a note worthy purchase. Lets face it you will not find so many varied colors for such a low price tag plus with such decent quality and pigmentation. If you eliminate the red shades you are still left with a good 9 colors to work with.
So thats it for now divas! Hope you like the review. Do leave in your thoughts about the featured palette. Catch you later!
