Shikha Says:

Ahh the judgement age! Where you a good girl/guy in your 20’s? Treated your body right? Treated your skin to a daily routine?? YOU DIDNT!!!!! 😮 Ok stop the bus someone wants to get off……..Just Kidding :D. Anyways if you were not religious with proper skin care then it is still not too late. Sure it will be more difficult as the skin does not behave the way it did in your 20’s. You will start to notice some discoloration, dullness, fine lines, etc. For me I always had clear skin and didn’t break out as such. But approaching 30 has caused my skin to break out more often than it did plus sensitivity of certain products/ingredients has increased.

So it is high time to get into the habit of a regular CTM routine along with dedication to a sunscreen. But the buck does not stop there – experts feel that having a Retinol based cream is an essential for this age as this helps in exfoliation as well as increases cell turnover. Again, always consult a dermatologist before buying any such active ingredient product. And always do a patch test.
Treating the eye area also becomes essential at this age. A good eye cream is needed to keep the dark circles at bay and to provide the necessary moisture that this sensitive area needs. Since by this age everyone is in a regular work commitment, the modern age of computers are a big culprit of the discomfort and redness of the eyes. You can try using something like artificial tears or rose-water based drops to soothe the eyes (consult a medical professionalist first) . Or one can opt for the good old cucumber slices which have been chilled for sometime *bliss*.

Although it is not really the time to start the alarms and grab an anti aging cream first according to experts but it is advisable to invest in a serum which targets specific problem areas. Serums can be packed with anti oxidants and are able to penetrate deeper into the skin in comparison to a moisturizer thereby imparting smooth, supple and glowing skin.

Hands and feet are often neglected in spite of the fact that they experience the most movement and wear-n-tear in our day to day  life. It is important to include them in the routine as well. Apply some cream on them  before going to bed. You can even cover them up with plastic or rubber gloves to help the cream to penetrate deeper into the skin. Yes it might cause sweating so attempt this during winters or if you are sleeping in an air conditioned room. Exfoliate your body once a week and don’t forget to apply sunscreen on these areas as well.

Another area that tends to get neglected even though it is right below the most cared for area on our body – the neck. A lot of people believe that the neck region as well as the hands are the certain giveaways of one’s age :o. So make it a point to not ignore this area in your daily routine. Remember a little TLC goes a long way!
