Hey there! I finally got a chance to do a makeup tutorial for you again. I have been thinking about this look for awhile now and tried out a couple of different things before settling for this version. But as luck would have it I was not able to find my Sleek Molten Metal Duo in gold when I did my final run. That was supposed to be the star of the show and I had to improvise. So in the end it is not exactly how I had imagined it to be. But nonetheless I hope you like it.

Basically what you can take away from this tutorial are some basic techniques, tips and ideas. I’m sure you would not replicate it on its own ever given its drama but there are small nuances which I will explain that can help you create other looks. You can always play around with what I’m showing you and downplay the drama to create a more wearable look like for example the choice of colors or say not making such a stark cat eye. I will do a step-by-step tutorial ie I will not put in it para format like before but rather break it down to points like 1-2-3. Do let me know if you find this method more convenient to understand. Let’s get started.

1. For me making a cat eye look even is a big challenge. By that I mean my right eye will have a different design and the left one another. I don’t know if you face this but for me more often than not this happens. I find using a reference point makes this task much easier so either you use tape at the corner of the eye or like me use the lower lash line to guide you. Taking some NYX Jumbo Pencil in Black and an angled brush I draw a line.

2. To give the cat eye shape I then extend a line from the outer point all the way to my crease. Don’t worry about being neat at this point.

3. Next I fill in the gap with the NYX again putting some color in the crease and covering almost half the lid. Since it is a creamy product I dont take too much and try to make do with what is present on the brush. Just cover the area but don’t overfill it.

4. Next I take some black eyeshadow and pat it on the black base. Pat don’t rub coz the base is creamy. Again don’t bother with being neat right now. Just get some product on.

5. Taking a dry Q-Tip I then clean up the surrounding area and bring in definition to the cat eye. Don’t use any remover as it will mess everything up. Take your time here. Also clean up some of the color from the middle of the eye on the lid not the crease.

6. Now taking a small brush I put on some NYX primer in White Pearl on the remaining area taking it to almost half the eye. Spread the base properly so it is even and not too light but again don’t put on too much product. Since I wanted to enhance the white I’m using this base. You can use it under an alternate color or even use a natural colored base to create a different look.

7. Now taking another clean brush (ensure it is absolutely clean since we are working with white) I pat on some shimmery white shadow on the white base.

8. Now comes the blending. Taking the brush I used for the black color I start to blend the point where the two colors meet. I move my brush from the black part to the white as I want the black to gain prominence. I don’t do a back and forth movement just from black to white and only on the point of meeting. If I moved my brush from the white to the black then the white would have become more prominent. Remember this trick and then based on the color that you want to show off more in your look blend your shadow accordingly. I do this till I achieve the desired gradient.

9. I pat some of the white on my brow bone. Taking a dome brush and a shimmer shadow I fill in the area between the black line and the brow bone with color. I left the black line as is since I wanted the stark shape of it.

10. I line my eyes a little thickly since I wanted to use false lashes for the look and the line should be visible above the lash line. For me it becomes messy when I try to line over the false lash line.

11. Now I leave my makeup at this point and first clean up all the mess around. Then I went and did my face makeup. Reason being that since I didn’t have much going on on the lower lash as of now I could do my foundation concealer routine more easily. If I would have put on a base before doing the eye I would have completely ruined it by now.

12. Once my base is done I line the water line with some kajal. I wanted to add some more definition to the look and here the Sleek product that went missing would have been used. But I improvised by putting some Inglot Duraline on a golden shadow and mixing it with a little copper one. I then drew a line using a thin brush on the lower lash line. You can completely omit this step or just use it on the inner corner of the eye.

14. Finished of the eyes with some false lashes and mascara. Wait for sometime after you get the falsies on so that they stick properly and then go in with the mascara.

15. I then contoured my face, used my favorite blush and added some highlight on my cheekbones, bridge of nose, forehead, cupid’s bow and chin.

16. Finished it off with some peach lippy topped off with a little gloss on the center of the lips.

Phew! That was a long one 😀 More than the tut it was the getting ready and accessorized that took me the longest time. Since the time I got the necklace in the Fab Alley box I wanted to use it as a hair ornament. Took me forever to get the bloody thing to stay put. But it was fun! All the while I was wishing that no one rang the bell (lol). I’m giving a complete list of products that I used below each picture.
