I have heard about this brand from fellow Indian beauty bloggers as well but have not gotten around to trying it out yet. There are so many different brands available out there that some just get completely get lost in all the noise and clutter. In an earlier edition, we had presented Fudge, a well known hair products brands in the industry. Today we would like to continue this journey with you and bring forth the brand Physicians Formula. Together we will take a look into the deep workings of this brand as well as its philosophy. Apart from that we will explore the different product range it offers and the most talked about/liked products from them that the blogging world is a buzz about.

Lets start with delving a little into their background. It might sound boring but we feel that it is essential to understand where a brand is coming from to know if it is the right fit for you or not. With the increase in consumer awareness as well as preference it is important to understand the beliefs or workings of a brand to help to find if they are suited to you and what you consider to be make or break factors like ingredients used or policy about animal testing and the like. I will try to keep it as brief as possible.

Started in 1937 by Dr. Crandall so that he could cater to the sensitive skin of his wife Physicians Formula maintains the long standing tradition of using hypoallergenic ingredients and manufacturing products which will work on the most sensitive of skin as well. They claim that their products are recommended by allergists, dermatologists, ophthalmologists, and plastic surgeons. They project themselves as a department store brand with department store prices, experts in getting color correction makeup to the masses. They go as far as to claim that their products are free of the 100-132 known allergens (they quote different numbers in different sections of their introduction) in the market today.

Their Mineral Glow pearls. The white pearl in the center is actually a plastic pearl stuck on the outer transparent lid. It was critiqued by Temptalia as making it difficult to store
Sounds promising doesn’t it? However some beauty insiders are quick to point out the shortcomings in these  claims by saying that no known physician has been actually associated with this brand in a very long time. On top of that a lot of their products contain the similar if not the same ingredients as most of the other products available in the market. Translation their claim of not using the known allergens comes up for challenge. They have even been criticized for catering to the fair complexioned primarily and having very little products for medium to dark skinned population. A couple of their ranges have hit or miss kind of products happening while others have been advised to steer clear off like their lip formulations, sunscreens and foundations. They come under scrutiny for their wasteful and strange packing.

Bronze Booster Glow-Boosting Airbrushing Bronzing Veil Deluxe Edition. They are known for good bronzers.
Having said all that they are also known to make excellent cleansers, pressed powders, matte eyeshadows, bronzing powder, liquid liners, blushes, loose powder, mosaic powder, concealers  At he end of the day one needs to sort of explore the range and find the pieces that work for them instead of primarily relying on their claims.

All three products shown are meant for brown eyes
Now after getting all that out of the way lets get to the fun stuff shall we?? The product that drew me to write this article about them is the Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Gel Creamliners. These come in a set of 3 shades all meant to compliment a particular eye color. They can be stacked on top of each other like building blocks! How cute is the packing. 4 sets are available for brown, blue, green and hazel eyes. Each set costs $10.95 (Rs. 603/- approx). There is a metallic version also available in it targeted at 3 eye colors – green, blue and brown with the same price tag. Kohl versions are also available for the 1st type with the same respective concept and price.

Another one that caught my fancy for was the Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Shadow & Liner N~de Collection. OMG the packing is soooo pretty with all the lace and satin on it!! There have been some really nice reviews for this one. There are 9 shades in this palette for a price tag of $10.95. Karen from Makeup & Beauty Blog recommends that you use this with a wet brush so as to get proper color payout.

Their blushes are the ones that I come across the most reviews for. Especially the Sexy Booster and Cashmere Glow ones. The packing and design of the products are so pretty and eye catching that alone will prompt you to pick them up. Priced at $11.95 (Rs. 658/- approx) and $12.98 (Rs. 713/- approx) respectively.

And lastly, the other product that caught my attention were the Endless Color Custom Nail Trio. These are available in 8 complementing shades and are stackable like the gel liners. From gorgeous reds to n~de pinks to popping combo like yellow, blue and green these have something for everyone! Priced at $10.95 (Rs. 603/- approx).
