Back with the 3rd part in this series post ๐Ÿ™‚ Well you know me…I dont like perfumes that much…just a teensy weensy bit really. Now if I was into it much then maybe I would have been writing my 10th post on it by now…that would have been OCD. This….its nothing…no biggy ๐Ÿ™‚ Now that I’m done with my Ostrich-head-in-the-sand-to-hide routine let’s just get on with the mini reviews of six more perfumes from my collection. Btw you can check Part 1 & Part 2 in case you missed them…

Jovan White Musk

Jovan White Musk

I have a lot of very fond memories associated with this perfume. This was my signature scent when I was around 16. That was the time when my family moved to Delhi for a few years. Well lets just say life got very exciting very fast ๐Ÿ™‚ For me this symbolizes hope with a touch of naivety, feelings of first love (which did happen) and absolute joy. I know I’m projecting my emotions but that is the beauty of a scent. It will trigger that memory locked deep inside along with all the emotions. That is why you need to wear and make one your signature. So that people will remember you by it.

When you first spray it on it may seem a tad strong but it quickly tones down and leaves a lovely oriental scent mixed with hints of floral. I actually used to think that it is just made of musk and was quite surprised to see that it was made from the blend of a few notes. A beautiful combination which is feminine and perfect for day to day wear.

“Jovan White Musk by Jovan is a daytime perfume for women that hit the market in 1993 and has been delighting women ever since. This subtle scent combines warm white florals with jasmine, ylang ylang and honeysuckle to create an alluring fragrance that is seductive enough for a date but light enough for the office. Jovan White Musk is feminine without being overpowering, making it an ideal choice for those who like a scent that lingers lightly in the room without stealing the show.” – Fragrancenet.com

Bvlgari Pour Femme

Bvlgari

Bvlgari is a brand known as the hallmark of luxury. They craft their perfumes with the same finesse and decadence as they do their jewelry. So you can be sure to get something very rich and completely unique when you turn to them. I had gotten this as a gift awhile back….though I really wish I had gotten the jewelry instead ๐Ÿ˜› ๐Ÿ˜€

This is completely an evening wear perfume and it quite strong and confident in its tone. It is supposed to be a mainly floral based scent but it does not have the lightness of most floral tones but embraces their darker side. The first whiff hits you with a really strong note with a hint of sweetness to it. But as it fades both the notes give way to heavy floral tone which lasts for quite a bit. Towards the absolute end does it change to the earthy basenotes. Again not something for someone with a faint nose. It has a mature feel to it and needs to be worn by a woman/diva.

“Bvlgari Pour Femme is a feminine classic which will adorn you just like precious jewelry. The delicate floral bouquet opens with bergamot, violet leaves and orange blossom. In the heart dwells luminous jasmine Sambac picked at dawn, when its scent is romantically soft. Jasmine is followed by sensual mimosa and always feminine rose. The base unites powdery coldish iris, musk and sandal wood.” – Fragrantica

Nina Ricci L’Air du Temps

Nina Ricci L'Air du Temps

This one is an oldie. It is part of my Di’s collection. I remember a time when it was her favorite perfume and her signature scent for the longest time. She gifted it to me sometime back saying that she remembered how much I used to like it. Given the brilliant memory I have (sarcasm intended) I had no recollection of ever having said that. Just nodded my head dumbly and played along ๐Ÿ˜€ What the heck! Another one for my collection! More the merrier I always say ๐Ÿ˜›     This perfume was crafted during the World war times and hence the doves on it to represent peace. A mix of spicy and floral notes it starts off quite strong and sort of hits you with the strong spicy note. After sometime it mellows down to a powdery note but maintains its strong character. Towards the end it blends down to some earthy tones but you can still smell some strains of the powdery middle and the spicy top note. A very unique blend but a little bit too strong for me. There is a sharpness to it that puts me off. And I found that it is somewhere in the middle….not light enough to be worn in the day and not strong enough for the night.

“The floral-spicy note of the carnation is in center of its composition. Bergamot and rosewood support the development of the carnation theme, refined with the notes of rose and jasmine. Violet and iris give a powdery nuance, and create a harmony with the woodsy notes of cedar and sandal, while sensual musk and amber add the final feminine accord to the composition.” – Fragrantica

The Body Shop White Musk Libertine

The Body Shop White Musk

I fell in love with in first whiff! The blend of fragrances is so lovely….it has that young and fresh feel to it. And what I like about it is that it is not young enough to make you feel juvenile. There is a slight backbone to it which is quite appealing. The Jovan version is quite young and apt for the sweet sixteen but this one is for the woman who might be worldly but is still young and innocent at heart.     I detect some floral tones to this with an underlying sweetness. The first whiff is comes off strong but slowly fades to let the floral note through. I could smell a light vanilla and some other sweet note mixed in with the floral after a couple of minutes. Gradually it fades away to the earthy base notes. This will go on my daily wear fragrance spot soon as I’m about to run out of my Nina Ricci one. Body shop has many versions available in their white musk range.

“A blend of cruelty-free musks with sweet notes of Turkish delight, baby orchid and Chantilly cream. ” – Body Shop

Antonio Banderas Splash Blue Seduction

Antonio Banderas Splash Blue Seduction

Are you actually gonna  ask me why I have this in my collection?!? Really??? Two words for ya….Antonio Banderas baby! Nuff said! ๐Ÿ˜€ Well apart from the obvious reason why I got this let me just start by saying that I actually bought the Blue Seduction version prior to this. And it is one of my favorite perfumes till date! It is so amazingly unique and lovely…I even recommended it to Dolon and she quite liked it too. Seriously you need to smell it once to understand.     Since I really liked the original I decided to chance a trial with this newly launched variant. I find the bottle beautiful with the geometric shape and design at the bottom. The first whiff is quite fruity and fresh. There is a sweetness to it which is just right…Even though it tones down slightly as it fades the fruit fragrances rule over the floral ones. I like how it clings to my skin and gives me a feeling of a lush garden on a sunny day…you can close your eyes and actually feel the warmth of the sun and a lightness in your heart. Such a beautiful composition of notes….This man truly knows how a woman should smell!

“Splash Blue Seduction Perfume by Antonio Banderas, Launched in the summer of 2012 splash blue seduction is a very fresh, feminine and sensual scent that women will love to wear . This is a refreshing floral and fruity scent. The top notes are tangerine, black currant, pear and peach. The middle notes are gardenia, freesia, bulgarian rose, jasmine and raspberry. And the base notes are wood and musk.” – Fragrancex
Bvlgari Omnia Crystalline

Bvlgari Omnia Crystalline

I got this sample as a surprise! One fine day a package with an Italian postmark shows up on my door and it left me wondering coz I have been on a shopping ban since Jan. When I opened it I found this lil baby and a card from Bvlgari inviting me to try out their perfume. Honestly I was so taken aback! Whoa Nelly!!! That right there just made my week ๐Ÿ™‚

In my excitement I struggled with the packing of this thing and in trying to figure how to open it ended up spilling a couple of drops all over ๐Ÿ˜› Seriously it is weird that way but that is mainly coz it is like a sample and does not have a spray pump covering the mouth of the bottle. The perfume starts off with a strong note but has an underlying powdery note to it. Makes an interesting first whiff as you get a sense of strength and a feel of delicacy…After a bit the notes change and you get mid toned floral/woody notes which is what ends up lingering on your skin for a while. Like the earlier mentioned perfume from the brand this too had been crafted for the woman of the world…

“Inspired by the precious glow of pure crystal, an enveloping Eau de Parfum of signature depth and richness heightened by distinctive Lotus flower, velvety Orris concrete and the smoothness of White Sandalwood. Top Notes: Italian Mandarin, Lotus Flower. Heart: Lotus Flower, Orris Concrete, Heliotrope. Base: White Sandalwood, Benzoin from Siam, Musks” – Bvlgari

So with that I complete my third installment of this series. I had thought that this would be it but I realized that I have a couple of perfume samples lying around thanks to various beauty boxes and decided to feature them in the fourth part. More the merrier I always say ๐Ÿ˜€ If you like the series so far then do keep an eye out for that one….See ya!
