I thought of doing something different for you guys. I am a self confessed hoarder and always end up “stocking” stuff much more than I need. One of my weaknesses per say are perfumes. Though their quantity doesn’t come close to the number of shoes or the amount of makeup in my stash (among other things :P) but I do tend to indulge in them from time to time. Always on the look out for unique things how can that exclude what I like in perfumes. My sister used to love them and had a HUGE collection long back. So there are many scents I’m familiar with. And I try to find something that I haven’t smelt before. I have a fetish for amber and musk tones and trying to find a balance between my attraction to these notes and my fondness for uniqueness becomes a challenge.

But these are some in my collection at present that differ from each other considerably. Though one or two might be similar so to speak but they are unique in their own way. There are some that are missing and some no longer a part of my collection but I will mention those for you in the end. So let’s take a quick look into each of these. Presenting mini reviews on some perfumes.

Nina Ricci Love in Paris

I got this as a gift from my sister. A very nice light smelling fragrance with floral tones and a spicy hint to it. Reminds me of freshness. How it feels after a heavy rainfall when the sun breaks out and everything sparkles and looks clean. Great for day wear. As you can see I have very little left of it. Simply love it!

“Enchanting fragrance has top notes of bergamot, star anise and rose, middle notes of white peony, velvety apricot and sheer jasmine and base notes of sandalwood, cedar wood, musk and vanilla.” – Cheap Smells

JLo Blue Glow

JLo Blue Glow

I LOVE the Glow perfume that was first launched by JLo. Since then I have tried 4 more versions of it and this one & Miami Glow come in close second to the first one in terms of my preference. In the signature glow shape and the little charm this one smells like a mix of fruit and flower….An excellent perfume for the summers. The first whiff carries a touch of citrus which fades down to a flowery middle….The base is a very interesting blend of oriental/woody fragrances….Images of the bright sun and clear blue water flashes in my mind when I take a whiff of this….Hmmm!! At present I wear this one the most on a day to day basis.

“This fruity floral fragrance for women was inspired by the ocean. Top notes include mangostine, Valencia orange and cranberry blossom. The heart incorporates wild water lily, vintage rose, vanilla orchid and foamy aquatic accords. A base features a blend of cedar, sandalwood, mahogany, moss and Venezuelan tonka.” – Fragrancex

Though I’m not a floral person per say as I bend towards musk and amber fragrances but something about this one worked for me and made me pick it up. The initial whiff is a little heavy but if you let it settle down then it smells very feminine yet confident. There were 3 more variants to this Lavender, Rose and the 3rd I forget. But this one suited my body chemistry the best. Even the bottle is a blast from the past and has this simple old world charm to it. This does not last very long though but the fragrance becomes better as it fades.

Victoria Secret Very Sexy Dare Body Mist
Victoria Secret Very Sexy Dare Body Mist

This one is not for the weak hearted (or nose). A strong spicy woody scent that some have called masculine in nature. Personally I liked the smell and felt that it exudes confidence and power. Heck I like masculine fragrances and wore a lot of unisex and at times masculine deos back when I was young. The feminine delicate scents didn’t appeal to me back then. Even though it is a mist which is supposed to be a lighter version of the actual perfume it comes on strong and lasts for awhile on you. I love the purple square bottle.

“Top notes are blood orange, bergamot and pineapple; middle notes are jasmine, lily, nutmeg and peony; base notes are sandalwood, musk and tonka bean.” – Fragrantica

Versace Bright Crystal
Versace Bright Crystal

What feelings does a scent evoke in you? Love? Joy? Bliss? Versace Bright Crystal does all of the above for me. It smells like the feeling of contentment when you are happy, feeling of the first romance and the feeling of that light rainfall in the open field…..It exudes sensuality and confidence. A beautiful lightly spicy floral scent.

“A succulent top note opens with sweet-bitter hints of pomegranate set against the dynamic freshness of yuzu. Moving into the heart note, the delicate floral and aquatic tone of lotus mingles with lush notes of magnolia and the fresh feminine quality of peony. It finishes off with a base note that exudes a scintillating depth with notes of soothing musk, rich hints of mahogany and a smoky swirl of amber.” – Flipkart

Calvin Klein Obsession Night for Women

Calvin Klein Obsession Night for Women

A very rich and heavy feeling scent perfect for evening wear or to a special event. It sort of engulfs you in its aroma creating this strong confident vibe. A very earthly scent which could be a little overpowering for some. Even when it fades it retains it richness and does not become soft. A fragrance for someone who loves mystery and wants to stand out from the crowd.

“Notes: Bergamot, Bitter Orange, Mandarin, White Floral, Angelica Root, Gardenia, Rose, Muguet, Night-Blooming Jasmine, Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Amber, Labdanum, Sandalwood, Cashmere Wood” – Amazon
I just had to break this post in parts! There were too many to put into one and usually people tend to stop reading once a post gets too long 😛 I know I do. So keep a look out for the other parts in the near future. I hope you liked the mini reviews and they will help you decide what you want to pick for your collection. Would love to hear which one from these are your personal favs 🙂 Ciao!
