Nee And Oink Store, Kolkata

     Have you ever stepped out of a car and felt that you were transported somewhere else? Looked around to see if you were still in your city? Wondering if you found a door to some parallel dimension? Well I felt exactly like that when I saw the white picket fence facade of the Nee & Oink store here in Kolkata. If the front was a cause for fascination the interior of it was almost magical. A tree trunk is the central point of focus with the store and its displays built around it. In one part you will spot the children’s collection and opposite that is something for their mom’s. Neelakshi and Oiendrila the designer duo sisters behind the brand have been around for more than 4 years. They started out with designing clothes for children. Being mom’s themselves they would always be in search of comfortable yet stylish clothes for their kids.

The kiddy collection

     From using child friendly fabrics to ensuring that the zips, buttons are concealed or even the work done on the clothes is laid out in such a manner so as to not harm the kid in any manner. They ventured into women’s clothing and opened their first store due to popular demand from their regulars. You can find multiple themes in the clothes. I think the one that caught my eye the most was the bug collection where the beetle played the main role. Beautifully done out in zari or pastels threads…who would have ever thought that the creepy crawlies could make such a chic fashion statement. I really liked some of the combinations they had made especially the used of pastel on white.

     You can place an order for your size from anything in the store. Yes even if something in the kids section catches your eye you can request for the “grown up” version of it 😀 How neat is that! Well the reason I know this is cause a lot of things in the kids section were uber cute and something that I wished to own…don’t judge me 😛 They had this collection with birds on it which used some very interesting structures. If they were plus size friendly I think I would have done a couple of outfit changes right there. A lot of the outfits caught my eye…if it was not the interesting construction then it was the very unique work done on it or pairing made. They are definitely a fun and quirky brand that you need to look out for.

     Whether it is for a reception or a cocktail or even a Sunday brunch they have something for everyone. Same goes for the kids section where you can find clothes for both boys and girls for all occasions.For me Nee & Oink create fairy tales and bring their visuals to life.
