Maybelline Color Show Nail Polish Wine & Dine

Back with another review of the Maybellline Color Show launch and this time it is the color Wine & Dine. Everyone is in love with these nail paints and you will find the whole blogsphere raving about them. The price of Rs. 75/- makes them oh-so-delectable and they have a very good staying power. People are just so happy with the different finishes in it and some have even found great ones for stamping. If you still don’t own one yet you are seriously missing out ๐Ÿ™‚

Like I mentioned in my review of Hooked On Pink shade this was sent to me by the PR of the company. Please check out that review if you haven’t already for the basic description of this product. I will jump right into the color and other properties of it and my attempt at nail art ๐Ÿ˜›

It is actually wine colored with minute pink shimmer adding to the effect. It looks beautiful on the nails with the color throwing different effects in the play of light – sometimes it looks like a black shade, sometimes wine and the other times the shimmer catches your eye. The formulation of it is actually quite thin which was very surprising.

You need 2 coats to get an opaque finish and sometimes a 3rd one to make it look smooth and finished. I got fraying on the tips by the 4th day and visible chipping by the 6th day. We were asked to create nail art looks using the paints and like I mentioned before I cant do nail art to save my life. When I see all the beautiful flowers that some of these ladies create it leaves me in awe. I tried making one and…..ok let not even go there ๐Ÿ˜› Anyways after creating the one previously which was with the help of sellotape I didn’t know what else to do.

Base color is Wine & Dine, pink is Hooked on Pink and the lightest color is Constant Candy

I came across this tutorial on FB where the person used this basic layering technique of sorts and tagged it as “art deco” nails ๐Ÿ™‚ How convenient! I wanted to do something where I could layer all the 3 colors that I have from Color Show and here was my way out. It looks very basic but really if you are a newbie even this was an achievement. Armed with the paints and a thin brush that helped me to get the lines straight I was able to create this look. Now my friends are very sweet and they liked my attempt but you can be straight with me and tell me what you really think. Just don’t be brutal please ๐Ÿ˜€ As always I leave you with a ground breaking question…..which ones have caught your fancy from this collection? Very serious ok… ๐Ÿ˜›
