MAC Archie's Girls Lipstick Oh Oh Oh

Hello, back with another lippy from the Archie’s Girls collection. I did get a chance to visit Mumbai last weekend as I mentioned in my earlier post but didn’t end up picking any of the other lippies from it. I was eyeing the Ronnie Red and Daddy’s Little Girl ones but decided against picking them up as the former was something that I already have in my collection and the later was too purple for me which I steer clear off. None of the others had any appeal and I ended up feeling like Goldilocks but unfortunately I did not have the 3rd bear which was “just right”

When I had seen the swatches on Temptalia for the Oh Oh Oh lipstick I had a very different image in mind and it became a part of my “must-buy” list. But once I got it in my hand I found the color to be very different than my perception and honestly would not have picked it up had I swatched it in the store. Reason being that I don’t usually go for such a color palette.

Lets talk about the basics, the lipstick comes in the standard MAC bullet packing but is white in color and has the image of Betty on it with some red hearts scattered over. The product comes in Lustre finish which is a personal favorite of mine from the MAC range (if you want to gain a better understanding of this finish read the article HERE). It has that signature yummy vanilla scent to it. The texture is quite smooth and the pigmentation is kinda sheer so if you pigmented lips you need to build the color up to get some coverage. I felt that it sat in my lines a little and emphasized the dry areas a bit. It does not last long on the lips though. In the “kiss-test” it faded to a gold sheen on the lips by the 3rd kiss.

Coming to the color, have you ever seen a copper paint especially the oil ones. They have this brown color mixed in with some purple highlights and gold sparkle. That is exactly how this looks in the tube. On my hand , it looked like a sheer pinky brown shade with gold shimmer in it (actually it looks more like a gold glaze than shimmer/glitter coz the particles are like nano sized). On my lips it looked more of a brown color with the gold not being so noticeable per say but rather adding a depth/dimension to the color. The pink/purple aspects of the color do not translate onto my lips.

Ok now here comes my issue with this color. In most lights this looked brown on me but bam! once the sunlight hit it turns all shades of pink. I was like I just wrote a huge post on how this color looks brown on me and this damn thing decides to turn on me….but I still don’t like it….and it does look brown…my camera is a guy and he apparently likes the chic…so there 😛

In conclusion, I would say that the Ronnie Red is probably the most wearable shade in this collection and worth picking up. I’m not a fan of brown shades so this was a turn off for me. Again always try to check the color on your lip before making a purchase. I do have one more eye pencil that I picked up from this collection which I will be putting up later. So stay tuned for that. See you around….Ciao!
