Hey there! Today I’m going to talk about another product that I picked up from L’Oreal a few months back. It was a recent launch then and now is being promoted under their Sunset collection. I really like liquid liners and since I had bought the NYX Skinny Marker I got hooked to it completely. Usually I don’t end up buying the marker types coz they dry up pretty fast but I wanted to do some precision liner and eye art kinda work so I decided to pick the NYX one. And after using it for more than a year now it is about to finally get over (love it btw) I went hunting for an alternative for it which was available easily out here.

     I saw two liners at the L’Oreal counter and ended up picking this one as a) it was much blacker in color and b) it has a felt tip applicator kind of thing which I thought would make it easier to use and somewhere in the lines of the skinny marker. So before we get into my thoughts about the product lets just take a look at its basics. 

     Comes in a black plastic tube type packing with gold detailing to it. Very classy. The cap is flattened at one end which make it easier to hold onto while applying the liner. The tube is about 3 inches roughly. There is a felt tip applicator attached to the cap inside which is flexible. I felt that the tube was a little too long but realized that the length makes it easier to use. There is a slight smell to product and I associate it to the usual smell that some liners do have. Not noticeable unless you go looking for it.

     The product is a liquid liner (sort of) which sets fasts (unlike the traditional liquid liners). Once set it does not budge the entire day unless you take it out. An intense black color with a slight sheen to it. I have worn it entire day in Mumbai weather and it gets quite hot and humid there plus my skin becomes oily there as opposed to it being combination in Kolkata. So even in those conditions it lasted the entire day for me. Price is Rs. 650/- for 6 ml of product.

     Now coming to some issues I observed with it. The applicator as a concept is quite good but what would have made it ideal is that if it had a little stiffness to it. When you are drawing the line on your lid you need to do it with a very very light hand and by that I mean not applying any kind of pressure with the tip. The moment you apply even a little pressure the end of the tip bends at an angle so you end up with a crooked line. If you are a novice this could be really painful and even for me in spite of being used to liquid liners and brushes I had to put in effort to get a straight line. So you need to practice with it.

     The product sort of peels off when you take it off. It does not really dissolve out how a liquid liner does. So when I was removing it with the Body Shop wipes I could see the little flakes coming out. Now being a liquid texture it got into the curve of my upper lid where the eyelashes are attached to the skin. When I tried taking it out with the wipes it didn’t come off completely from this area. I did not want to rub it too much. Not really a big issue and if I had a proper makeup remover on my like the MAC Cleanse Off Oil I’m sure it would have come out in one go.

     This is a good product  but I feel it is a little pricey especially for the quality it delivers. The applicator is a big reason why this turned me off and that is why I’m saying this. After using the NYX one with such ease and then having to use this and spend so much time and effort in it to get a straight line is completely unacceptable to me. And once it gets ruined it becomes quite a task to get the line straight. I’m a strong believer that a product should be good enough on its own and not require a whole lot or work. 

     If you are an expert then yes you can go for this coz as a product it is not bad but I personally would not recommend it to anyone coz I know that there are better alternatives available out there. Does the product do what it claims? Yes it does as it does have the vinyl shine to it and is extremely long lasting. So no complaints there at all. What do you feel? Have any of your tried this out?
