Lime Crime Carousel Gloss

A short while back I talked about the Lime Crime Velvetines that I got from the Black Friday sale they were having. There was a 30% site wide discount on their site and I grabbed the opportunity to get some pieces that I have been eyeing since the longest time. Their Carousel gloss was second in line after the Velvetines. As you must know by now that I’m a complete gloss lover. I embrace the drama and shine they provide. So how could I miss these ones?

There are 5 shades in this line at present – Cherry on top, Candy Apple, Hollygram (emerald green lipgloss), Present (Rich berry packed with magenta sparkle) and Snowsicle (clear gloss packed with rainbow sparkle). If you are stumped with the green one you should know that Lime Crime is famous for such shades. They even have mint, yellow, grey, black, blue and lavender lipsticks 🙂 And some of the most beautiful pastel shades in nail paints! Truly adorable. Btw I got the 1st two shades.

What Lime Crime Says About It

“Twinkling like a merry-go-round at night, Carousel Gloss has the pigmentation of a lipstick, shine of a gloss, loaded to the brim with sparkle. A magical ride you’ll never want to end!”

Packing

Before I start I just have to say I “wuv” the packing! The outer case is a pentagram shaped cylinder which has a metallic purple shade to it and detailing done in white. The product comes in cylindrical tube which has a spiral design running on it. You can see the color of the product and if you turn the tube it flashes from between the pattern giving it the enigma of a Carousel 🙂 It looks and feels like glass but I guess it might be acrylic as it gives that plastic sound when you tap it. The cap is done in the same purple metallic color as the outer casing and has detailing done on it in lavender and white. The tube is around 3.5 inches in length. Very beautifully done and completely eye catching! It comes with a small pointed brush applicator.

Texture

I find the texture to be very similar to that of MAC Dazzleglass which is to say that is is quite thick, slightly sticky, has similar vanilla scent and is quite glossy. Being so thick it tends to move around on the lips a bit so it is advisable to not smack or rub your lips too much or too often. The product will end up shifting and looking patchy from places.

Being a gloss they tend to not last for too long as is their nature. This one sat in my lines on the 3rd kiss in the “kiss test” and was gone by the 6th but it did not leave my lips completely devoid of color. A soft stain of color was left behind. The color and the glitter tends to fade evenly. Both colors are quite intense and highly pigmented. They gave me almost full coverage and can be worn by themselves. If you want to increase their intensity and drama then you can top them over a lipstick.

Cherry On Top Pigmentation

Lime Crime Carousel Gloss Cherry On Top

Lime Crime calls it a Maraschino-cherry pink with rainbow sparkle. I call it a pinkish red shade and can see only minute pink shimmer in it. A beautiful shade which is bold in color but at the same time retains an air of femininity to it. The shimmer adds a dimension to the color and makes the lips look plump. Definitely a color for that special date or night out.

Candy Apple Pigmentation

Lime Crime Carousel Gloss Candy Apple

A color that has been described as deep ruby-red with crimson glitter by Lime Crime which fits the bill perfectly. You know the combination of the color and the glitter reminds me of the famous ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz 🙂 Very striking. Where Cherry on Top has a feminine touch to it a delicacy of sorts this is one is for the sassy bold woman. The richness and intensity of the shade will help you get in touch with the diva in you. Perfect for the time when you want to make a statement and break a few hearts 😉

Though I love the color and finish of these I’m put off a little by the thickness of them and their tendency to move around. It makes it a little tough to bring in an evenness to them especially when they are worn on their own. I hope Lime Crime tweaks the formula just a tad and then these will be every lip gloss lovers dream. Priced at $17 (Rs. 1051/- approx) for 3.5 gms of product. I got them at 30% off which is about $12 (Rs. 742/-).

Oh yes….do be gentle when you are taking out the applicator from the tube. If you pop it out with a flourish chances are that you will end up with a blob of product on you or around you. Just pull it out firmly but gently and you should be good. With that I wrap up what I got from the recent Black Friday sale. Their shipping costs were quite reasonable and I got the delivery in a mere 8 days from the US which was amazing! I’m so loving this brand and will be picking up stuff from their other lines for sure. See you soon my pretties 🙂

Would you purchase Lime Crime Carousel Gloss again? – I’m on the fence a bit coz of the texture.

Would you recommend Lime Crime Carousel Gloss to your friend? – For their prettiness alone I would but will warn them about the texture.
