I remember how popular instant cameras were when I was a kid.  A bit of a luxury, a lot of novelty these became a coveted item few could afford. For us it was hard to get our hands on one and even if you did manage to, getting films aka refills was a bigger issue. But the whole “instant” factor of it was highly appealing especially in a time where cameras had films that needed to be developed with a considerable wait period. Cut to the present these babies are still are novelty and have been popularized again all thanks to the “kawai” culture. But one would question their appeal since the whole “instant” aspect is not so much of a novelty anymore given the whole shift to digital cameras. I mean everyone is about the selfie or Instagram now and when people carry their cameras aka mobiles around everywhere how does this little buddy fit in anyone’s lifestyle? Well Fujifilm recently invited a couple of bloggers to come and experience what the buzz is all about…were we #instaxicated by the end of the evening??? Well let’s find out 😉

Fujifilm Instant Camera Gift Packs

Did I mention how uber cute they are?!? Most pieces on display were a soft matte pastel shade and there was even one shaped like Hello Kitty! For people not into the whole cutesy theme there were some pieces with a leather like covering on them giving them a more masculine appeal. We got to see a lot of different models that the company offers including one which takes wide pictures…perfect for group-ies. After playing with one for the remainder of the night I finally understood why they are so popular. The pictures have a vintage appeal to them and the whole vibe of it seems very intimate of sorts. To explain that better I would say that the pictures have a lot of “personality” (if that makes sense) to them. They give off a very playful vibe and all the bloggers were going snap happy while giggling like kids 😀 The company has launched a couple of combo boxes – Mini 8 bundle pack , Mini 8 Festival box and Mini 8 Party box which are priced at Rs. 8633/- (offer price Rs. 5,999/-), 9,999/- (offer price Rs. 6,999/-) and 12,999/- (offer price Rs. 9,999/-) respectively. These boxes make for a great buy as not only do they contain the camera aka Mini 8 but also include film packs, frames, stickers and other assorted items as per the box type which help you to personalize your pictures even further. They are a steal for the given offer price as just the Mini 8 costs around 6k which by the way is available in 7 colors.

In a generation which has grown up seeing digital cameras and have not seen the whole era of the printed photographs this is truly something unique. Us “old-timers” reconnected with nostalgia of our childhood. I loved the different ideas shown to us on how they can be incorporated in one’s lifestyle. My favorite had to be the one where someone used them to organize their shoe collection. Take a picture and stick it on the respective box so that you don’t need to open each and everyone to hunt down the pair you are looking for. A fashionista can plan her outfits ahead by documenting looks or creating a look-book of sorts something which a lot of fashion houses are doing apparently before the big show. There are just so many unique ways one can put these to use! Honestly I will say that I was truly #instaxicated by the end with them. The vintage vibe is highly appealing. There is just something so satisfying about holding a printed picture in your hand…maybe I’m old fashioned in the sense the whole digital pictures/books feels very impersonal to me. Well what do you think? Does the whole instant camera appeal to you? Will you consider going for a combo box given the price advantage? Have you played with an instant camera or do you intend to? Do drop in a line and let me know your thoughts on it…I will catch you soon me amigos! Asta la vista 😀
