Eat Out At Home
Orange cake with chocolate drizzle
Eat Out At Home, Kolkata

These days I am drifting through a Korean drama (& music) haze…or riding the Hallyu wave as it better known as (cowabunga!!). The aspect that has caught my attention the most…well after the eye candy of course…is the mouthwatering food! Oh sweet lord the food!!! I’m dying to try some black bean noodles like right now. My intake of Chinese food (that is all that I can get my hands on) has increased exponentially since I started watching the dramas. I think the saddest part is that even if I can make the dream trip to Seoul I will not be able to enjoy the food that I have become familiar with…why you ask? Sigh! Coz I’m a vegetarian. Am I forever destined to not be able to enjoy world cuisine due to my preference??? Hmm maybe not. Not if the ladies of Eat Out @ Home have something to say about it 🙂

When I was invited to sample the menu right off the bat I was sure I was headed for some North Indian cuisine ever since I heard the words “home made vegetarian food”. Isn’t that the image that pops into your head when you hear that? Some good ole Dal, Paneer, Aloo and the likes…standard stuff. But I was in for quite a treat! Let me first share with you the items on the menu – Carrot orange soup with crostini and coriander butter, Fungus udon salad, Burmese ginger salad, Sushi, Leek fennel roesti with cheesy sauce, Caramelized onion and cheese fondue cups, Ravioli with veg in sun dried tomato sauce, Sesame tofu with soba noodles in spicy peanut sauce, Sabz galauti, Cous cous verde, Roti jala with malay curry, Orange cake with chocolate drizzle, Grilled peaches and apple roses with cream, Caramel almond sandesh and Orange & Basil Flavored Water.

I love fondue and they served this with a mini foccacia bun. The caramelized onion added a very unique taste to it and I ended polishing the entire cup. My next absolute fav was the Burmese Salad. I added some of the peanut sauce on top of the blend of fresh crisp ingredients and it is was so yum! I could savor a new flavor with each bite. I took a generous helping of the Sesame tofu with soba noodles in spicy peanut sauce and Cous cous verde. Loved the noddles and tofu combo. I was stuffed to the brim by now and had to sit back to take a breather. I needed to get my second wind as the desserts were beckoning! The grilled apple roses were so pretty and the orange cake was downright beautiful. It is one of their highly requested item. But the best for me was the caramel sandesh…nom nom nom!

The ladies behind Eat out @ home completely bowled me over with their food and presentation. It came no where close to my preconceived notions about “homemade vegetarian” food. The best part is that they take care of the presentation aspect for you and give the food in dishes that can be set in front of the guests. They provide catering for events, business lunches and you can even place special orders with them for example they told us about how one of their clients wanted to take a lunch box for their flight. They even create special platters for Diwali and other festivals. I got to enjoy the most innovative 5 star quality “homemade” food I have had till date. But dont take my word for it…try them out for yourselves 😉 I will be seeing ya!!!
