OPI Liquid Sand Nail Paint Can’t Let Go – Swatch and Review

OPI Liquid Sand Nail Paint Can't Let Go

I have developed such an unhealthy obsession for nail paints. Earlier on they were a mere adornment of sorts. Something to use so that your hands looked presentable and neat. But now…they are an indulgence and oh so satisfying. Forget the zillion and one colors that are available but the sheer amount of textures that you can play with! And lets not even get into the finishes. Chrome, magnetic, holo, leather, sand, glitter, mirror, etc etc. Ahhh its like discovering that 200+ colors box of crayons when you were little. Brings out the Rembrandt out of you…hmmm to be more precise the obsessive freak (I-want-more-nail-paints-now….even though I have more than I can coat my 10 pairs of hands with but what the heck….who is counting 😀 ). OPI sand nail polishes have been much talked about ever since their launch. Needless to say that I have be trying so bad to get my hands on them. But that dream trip to Sephora made this a possibility for me…finally! Let’s break it down…

Packing

OPI Liquid Sand Nail Paint Can't Let Go

Comes in the signature stout OPI bottle. The cap had been covered with a sticker of sorts which helps you to identify the different finishes that the brand has to offer. Brush is similar to the regular one available with most nail paints. This bottle contains a whooping 15 ml of product but is a little heavy and cumbersome to take along with you while travelling.

Texture

What a beautiful sand like texture. It dries down to a matte finish which is quite opposite to the perception one has of a glitter nail paint. It gives you the best of both ie matte and glitter….Very pretty! Though one might assume that it will be quite gritty to touch but surprisingly it isn’t as much as you would expect it to be. They go on like a regular liquid nail paint and then dry down to this beautiful finish! There are just so many things about it that break you first thoughts/impressions when you look at the bottle. But delivers so much more than promised. And compared to the usual paints in its category its lasts quite a bit. I got noticeable fraying on the tips on the 4th day of application and visible chipping by the 6th.

A gorgeous blue toned purple with a mix of fine and chunky glitter. The glitter provides the sparkle to the shade but in an understated manner. Makes it look like you have crushed a gem and sprinkled it on. A gorgeous and oh-so-glamorous shade which is meant to catch people’s eye and attract their attention. Totally in love with it 🙂

This shade was part of a Mariah Carey launched by the brand sometime back but it is still quite easily available. This was the only sand paint available at Sephora otherwise I would have definitely picked a few more from it. I was sold at the shade and look of it alone but the lasting power of it feels like the cherry on top. And, more importantly, it is not as difficult to get off as glitter paints! Imagine that 😀 Just keep the soaked cotton on for a count of 30 and it comes off quite easily. I paid around 20 SGD for it but got a 7% tax refund later on which makes it around Rs. 930/- approx. A bit much for a nail paint but given what it is and the quantity I got I feel that it is decent. So what do you guys think? Would you like to get one? Or do you feel it is not worth the price? Waiting to hear from you….

O.P.I I’m Not Really A Waitress Nail Polish – Swatch and Review

Shikha Says:

Hello Diva’s! I got this shade from O.P.I sometime back. I have been looking for it since awhile as I had heard that this is one of the iconic shades of the brand and was eager to try it out. Dell had partnered with O.P.I and had launched a removable laptop cover in this shade and it was so pretty. The name is so catchy. Since that time I have been looking forward to buy this.
I finally found it on one of the Indian shopping sites (don’t remember which). I paid around Rs. 520/- for it. It is a slightly dark red shade with similar color shimmer in it. Personally I feel that it has a blue undertone. When applied it has a really nice sheen to it. I put it about 3 days ago and can see very slight fraying at the tips which is not very noticeable. Due to the pigmentation it has a tendency to stain the nails in reddish color when it is removed (this is an issue that I have noticed with a lot of red and dark shades). It is a pretty color but I personally feel that due to the blue undertone to it I don’t really think that it suits my color tone. Reds generally help to impart a bright and fair look to the surrounding skin but I feel that this aspect is lacking in this shade.

Would you purchase it again? – The shade – probably not.
Would you recommend it to your friend? – Maybe. I’m on the fence regarding the shade.

I once had a teacher who said that on days she is feeling low or things aren't going right she would take extra care in how she looks and steps out... Instant mood revival... Or fake it till you make it to put it simply. So try it next time... If it brings a smile to your face then it's worth it no?

How does one decide? Hope is liberating but sadly it can be the most crippling as well...
