At first glance you captured my eye….at the second I knew I had lost my heart 🙂 That is how I felt when I first spotted these on IVC. I quite love Bourjois products and this lovely mirror like piece was captivating to say the least. The glossiness and pigmentation had me hooked. But at that time these were not available here yet and I frantically searched online for them but with very little luck. Thankfully eventually they found their way here….and the love affair was finally to be realized. But in the end I picked only one shade. No it was not for a lack of pretty shades but for the fact that whatever I swatched (read coral tones) I had a very similar color in stock. I just wanted to own one finally and decided upon the Famous Fuchsia shade. Let’s break it down to see how it fared for me.
What Bourjois Says About It
“ULTRA SHINE, RADIANT COLOR AND THE COMFORT OF A BALM.
A new generation formula that brings shine, color and comfort to your lips.
An ultra-shine result, thanks to a new ¼ gloss extract for amazing shine-wrapped color.
The new sensuous formula gives ultimate comfort. Enriched with nourishing mango butter extracts, Shine Edition leaves lips moisturized for up to 10 hrs**.
Its rich and melting formula provides cushion comfort and makes application addictive!
And the icing on the cake…It’s shiny, colored packaging makes Shine Edition lipstick a true fashion accessory”
Everything about the packing is quite lovely. I love the use of the metallic mirror like finish cap with the color accents. They have used 3 different shades on different lipsticks from the range. I wonder what the reason for doing so was. I tried looking at their site but didn’t find anything. The color I picked has pale yellow accents. Part of the base is transparent and you can make out the shade of the lipstick. The overall effect of the deep pink with the flash of metal and contrast with yellow looks quite striking.
It goes on quite smoothly on the lips and does feel as comforting as a balm. I felt that it had a light berry fragrance to it. It has a pretty subtle glossy look to it. What I liked was that it was so intense in color that I didn’t need to swipe on too many layers of it. A swipe or two and I was good. Given the glossy texture I thought it would fade away fast especially after a bout of eating/drinking. But this does put up quite a resistance. It does fade eventually but does not leave your lips bare. You are left with a deep pink stain on your lips.
I really like this shade. A very pretty fuchsia shade ie deep pink with slight blue tones to it. It provides full coverage and covers the pigmentation of my lips. Eventhough the texture is glossy the color does not move around on your lips when you smack them…translation no patchiness. It does not sit in the lines at all for me even while it is fading off. Along with the light berry scent, you get a slight berry taste too when you put it on which personally I quite liked 🙂
In the end, there is nothing like a love affair that goes right 😉 Maintains its flow and rhythm. I loved the formulation and pigmentation of it. Inspite of it having a high price tag (Rs. 955/-) I felt that it delivers on the value. And I would rather pick out more of these than any MAC ones (for now). Do try them out sometime. I know you will not be disappointed. Especially for someone like me who faces dry lips quite often this one is like a comfort blanket. Well that concludes my review. Honestly I fell completely out of practice of doing a product review and with great difficulty was able to write one 😛 I hope you guys liked it and found it useful. I will see you soon!
