Mrs Magpie, Kolkata, Christmas Special Menu 2015

Wishing all my readers a very Merry Christmas! May this new year bring a lot of joy, good health and success your way ๐Ÿ™‚ As I was thinking about how I should begin this post for you I heard a very loud “Ho, Ho, Ho” coming from outside (I kid you not) (this happened late last night while I was writing this post). I guess tis that season that brings out the inner Santa of everyone ๐Ÿ˜‰ Well for me I actually hope that it was the real deal and hopefully I can see some of my wishes coming true soon….a girl can dream…But whether I can mange to spot the real Santa or not I sure got an eyeful of his workshop, elves and reindeer at Mrs. Magpie’s window display ๐Ÿ˜€ If you read my earlier post on their Durga Puja menu you will know that they are the only cafe in town which does the whole window dressing thing and with aplomb. This time was no different with a beautiful winter wonderland laid out ๐Ÿ™‚

Mr Snowman is sitting all prettily

Well you gotta admit that Santa’s workshop is where all the action is. You will be able to spot a very busy workshop floor where all the elves, penguins and even snowmen have gathered to make the presents. There is a dorm for the tired elf to put up his feet and you will find Rudolph on standby near the sledge. Santa is checking up on the very fine weather that the North Pole seems to be having ๐Ÿ˜› There is a very dapper Mr. Snowman gracing the inner cabinet. The cafe has been decorated beautifully with christmas themed pieces hanging from the ceiling lending a mystical feel. Mrs Magpie’s has introduced some special additions to the menu which you can try out till the 5th of January.

My absolute favorite was the Maple Shortbread. It was just too good for words! They have introduced a special Christmas Goodies Platter due to which you can sample all the sweet flavors/varieties they have introduced. One of these can be shared between 2-3 people easily and can give you some major sugar rush. From classics like Fruit Cake and Almond Brittle to the Cointreau Chocolate Minced Meat Cake you can sample seven different types of desserts in it. The very popular afternoon tea has also gotten a Christmas makeover where in the veg version you will get desserts from the Christmas menu and 2 finger sandwiches, either the Rocket Blue Cheese or Sweet Potato (both have been newly introduced). They even have new flavors for the cake especially for the season and if you want to gift cookies to someone you can always pick up this uber cute cookie tin all dressed up as Santa.

For the marzipan obsessed people like me there are marzipan animals dressed out in Santa hats and all the cupcakes have Christmas themed decorations made from marzipan gracing them. You can  just picture the big smile on my face while I’m typing this out ๐Ÿ˜€ Truly the season to be gluttonously jolly! They have a lot of treats in store to make your Christmas very sweet bringing in some of the traditional favorites your way. So head on down to Mrs. Magpie to witness the Christmas magic in action. Wishing you all Happy Holidays once again ๐Ÿ™‚ Peace out!
