Niine by Niine is one of those hidden treasure troves that one stumbles on by chance. There have been many instances when I have passed their store but never really went in. The reason being that from the outside it looked like a boutique catering to Indian occasion wear. I presumed that since it catered to such a specific genre it didn’t hold any interest for me. There are so many boutiques scattered around Kolkata that one tends to visit those that they are familiar with already or have heard about from someone. Never judge a book by its cover was a saying that I was reminded of when I stepped into their store recently for a blogger event. Curious to know why I threw in that proverb?

Really liked how the shelves were “framed”

Good collection and a range of accessories are available

The store actually covers 3 floors! Not only do they carry Indian evening/party wear but Indian casuals, Menswear, Western casuals/evening, jewelry and bags too. They are a one stop shop for any fashionistas needs. When I entered I was ushered to the 2nd floor for the event. Here they feature western wear that are both in-house as well as designer wear. They have something for every size and I even managed to find a jumpsuit that I could fit into (not a small feat given my saddle bags). There were these gorgeous pair of crochet shorts and sequin tops and jackets that I wish I could fit into. They even offer customization in such a case ie if you like something and it doesn’t fit then they will make it for you as per your size.

Some western pieces that caught my eye

Spotted some bright beautiful pieces in Indian wear

I really liked their collection of jewelry and some statement necklaces caught my eye. I ended up picking this tribal looking choker. You know its not just the size but they have something for every budget. The Indian party wear starts for as less as 6k which is pretty decent. I saw a wide range of taste as well in their collection. For example, I spotted some pieces were quite Marwari/Gujrati inspired while others were very Punjabi by nature (I really liked this aspect of theirs!). There were some elegant gown like anarkalis too in the mix. They had a very interesting funky prints and colors for the regular Indian wear. Men too are quite spoiled for choices but mainly in the evening wear or Indian party wear.

Sonia showing an ensemble from the collection

Sonia, the owner and a designer, talked to us about her vision for the store and how she wants to have something for everyone. She showed us some of her favorite pieces in the store. She picked out this lovely blue & black suit set which just shimmered in the store lights. I loved the color combination and detailing of the work on it. Well after an entire afternoon of literally amok in the store checking out outfits and having trial sessions we walked out with our purchases. Finding something unique while shopping puts a spring in my step anyday and I was happy to discover a promising store.
